Foreign tourism is still in its early stages in Andros since the island has always been wealthy since medieval times through silk production and in more recent times through shipping. It's considered an island for the cultured elite and has one of the most important modern art galleries in Greece as well as a very fine archaelogical museum founded by the Goulandris shipping family who live on the island. The architecture and landscape of Andros are very different to that of the rest of the Cyclades with beautiful stone houses, hillsides covered in stone terracing and unusual dove cots with square towers whose pigeon holes are decorated with geometric designs.
Villa Hydroussa is a wonderful traditional stone property on the authentic island of Andros. This Greek Villa sleeps up to 10 guests, has great views and is simple yet very stylish. The private swimming pool makes this villa a perfect rental for a large group wanting to holiday in Greece.
