Pretty Greek Villas

Villa Bijoux is a small house in an excellent location above the sandy beach of Kalo Livadi.

Completed recently in traditional Mykonian style, the house has clean lines, a pleasing balance between traditional and contemporary styling and an absolutely stunning view over miles of coastline to Naxos, Paros and Dragonissi islands.

Stone steps lead from the laneway to a verandah with built-in stone benches with plenty of pillows and cushions from which to relax and take in the extraordinary view. Entering the house, there is an open plan living room with traditional built-in divan sofas around the fireplace. The well-equipped compact kitchen is separated from the living area by a small bar area with two stools. There is an outdoor dining area for four on the terrace. On this same level is the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower.

A nice design touch is that wherever possible, the traditional practice of using moulded cement work for furnishings and fixtures such as sinks has been used giving a simple, modern, tactile styling.

A narrow staircase leads to a delightful, tiny upper level rather like an eagle’s nest which is light and airy, with incredible views. On this level is a tiny bathroom with shower and WC, and a small double bedroom. Small these rooms may be, but the view from the 2nd bedroom’s upper verandah are immense with wide sweeping views and absolute stillness and calm.

For beach-lovers, this little retreat is ideal since it is about a 5 minute walk down to the glorious sands of Kalo Livadi beach where there are also a couple of excellent tavernas. The way back up to the house is hilly but nothing too arduous and would take about 10 mins to walk. Mykonos Town can be reached in approximately 10 mins by car or taxi.

A great, little house with an unpretentious feel, great views and easy access to the beach. It would suit a couple or young family or a couple of buddies looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay in quiet surroundings on this very chic island.
