Pretty Greek Villas

Io, Santorini, Cyclades, Greece.

Within a short stroll from the village square and built into the volcanic rock Villa Io provides a perfect oasis for the discerning traveller wanting to experience the beauty and simplicity of traditional surroundings on the wonderful Greek island of Santorini.

Tucked away in a secluded spot in the village of Megalochori, Villa Io offers a private little hide-away in a unique setting.

Within a short stroll from the village square and built into the volcanic rock Villa Io provides a perfect oasis for the discerning traveller wanting to experience the beauty and simplicity of traditional surroundings.

Villa Io used to be the village school house but has now been fully refurbished in a sensitive way to provide a beautiful setting for a group of up to 5 guests. The entrance to the property is through an arched doorway and the quality and artistic styling is immediately obvious. You are greeted by a cobbled courtyard with terracotta painted walls, a central swimming pool and an array of potted plants which punctuate beautifully and soften the stone and painted stucco. This is an immensely pleasing space, perfect for lazing around on hot summer days.

The interior of the property consists of a series of warren like rooms, all with arched ceilings and painted white. The floors throughout the villa are traditional, polished cement and are covered with rugs bringing an air of sophistication to what was originally a humble school building. The farm-style kitchen is large and fully equipped with modern appliances, an antique dining table and beautifully crafted chairs finish the styling beautifully and the fittings are artistic, sparingly distributed and effectively placed. Cutlery and crockery are housed in an ornate antique dresser, blending old and new styles harmoniously.

The living room is located through an arched passageway which connects the two main living spaces. The furnishings are simple, modern and comfortable and solid wooden antique doors lead out into the courtyard.

From the living room original double wooden doors open up into a single bedroom and a staircase leads you up to a loft. This is a perfect place for children to sleep since the space is magical and gives the feeling of a little hideaway. Doors also lead from the lounge to a comfortable double bedroom. All sleeping rooms are served by an open-plan bathroom with large shower, marble vanity, beautifully restored towel rails and a separate restroom.

This traditional villa ensures tranquillity, privacy and a taste of village life. Villa Io is ideal for families wanting to experience the true island life-style of days gone by without compromising on comfort.
