A wonderful stone property offering a high standard of accommodation for up to 10 guests.

Hydroussa was the ancient name for the island, meaning well-watered. Andros is unlike the other Cycladic islands since its mountains and lush valleys are filled with pines, sycamores, mulberries and oak trees which are watered by a myriad of springs, streams and waterfalls.

The Hydroussa estate extends to 30,000 sq metres and is planted with olives, citrus and cypress trees. Nestled in the hillside with spectacular views over Korthi Bay is the main house with guest cottage sleeping up to 12 guests.

The main house is of local stone and has been restored with great sensitivity and with comfort and elegance in mind. There is a large living room with dining area and well equipped kitchen and with many areas for dining al fresco either by the swimming pool or one of the many terraces overlooking the bay below.

The master bedroom suite has a double bed, living area and large bathroom. On this level, there is also a 2nd double bed with its own shower room. Connecting these two bedrooms is a large veranda from which can be accessed from one of the oldest parts of the house. This rounded tower like room used to be the place where the bread was baked in a huge oven which is now the 3rd double bedroom. A few steps down from this room is a utility room and bathroom. Next to this is the 4th double bedroom which has a very pretty bathroom – at one time this was the stable. A very pretty single guest house with own bathroom and single bed can also be used for an extra guest - a low doorway leads through to a surprisingly spacious room featuring the original slate ceiling.

Across from the main house, the dovecot has recently been restored to provide a beautiful retreat with double bedroom and bathroom. There is also a separate single bedroom.

The property is very comfortable and well-equipped and includes Bluetooth speakers so guests can access their own music collection and a Nespresso machine in the kitchen. (Please note some Nespresso capsules are provided for the start of the holiday but guests who enjoy Espresso should bring capsules with them since they are not sold on the island.)

Immediately surrounding the villa are various flower gardens as well as a wonderful organic vegetable garden – the gardener supplies guests with fresh vegetables and fresh eggs each day from the estate. The swimming pool is surrounded by stone walls and looks out over the estate to the sea below.

Villa Hydroussa is located in the village of Amonakliou about a 5 min drive from the Bay of Korthi and its marina town.

Foreign tourism is still in its early stages in Andros – the island has always been wealthy since medieval times through silk production and in more recent times through shipping. It’s considered an island for the cultured elite and has one of the most important modern art galleries in Greece as well as a very fine archaelogical museum founded by the Goulandris shipping family who live on the island.

The architecture and landscape of Andros are very different to that of the rest of the Cyclades with beautiful stone houses, hillsides covered in stone terracing and unusual dove cots with square towers whose pigeon holes are decorated with geometric designs.

The main town of the island, known as Andros Town, is particularly attractive with an impressive marble promenade where there are some very elegant restaurants, cafes, bars and boutique shops but without the price tag of comparable islands such as Mykonos or Santorini. The coastline has many lovely, sandy beaches and the island offers watersports and sailing through the island’s main sailing club, The Andros Naval Club, at Nimborio.

Lizzie F. arrived 27th August 2023
We had the most wonderful stay and felt so lucky to have found such a special villa and place.  We really loved Korthi Bay.

Some particular things to mention from the PGV point of view:

* I really appreciated the call when we were booking to chat through the different villas and what might work best for us.  Hydroussa was fantastic so I think he got the measure of us perfectly!

* The hand-holding to get us from Athens airport to the house was brilliant - it was a real comfort to know you were there on Whats App if we got lost or something didn't work.

* Thank you for booking the taxis for us and arranging the car, again that really helped make the journey as smooth as possible.

* Maria the housekeeper was absolutely brilliant - very kind, helpful and really good food - the set up was pitched perfectly. Such a treat to have a daily clean and tidy!

We had a really fantastic week and would definitely consider PGV again for another holiday!

John L Family arrived 25 July 2021
With all my three daughters and their families now safely returned to the UK, I just wanted to send you this short message to thank you very much for making a stay on Andros possible for them. They told me that the villa was a terrific place – and they had a wonderful stay there, with a lot of warm hospitality from the team at the house. SO : Thank you so much for going to such trouble to make their stay possible....

Roger E.S arrived 14 Aug 2021
We loved the villa. Very quirky. Only observation is that you need a decent rental car to make it up the hill

Louise B. arrived 3th Aug 2019

We had a really good time at the villa. What a beautiful spot of the island and what a beautiful decorated villa. We felt immediately at home! Tomorrow unfortunately we have to leave.

Best regards

Hi guys - we had a  GREAT time.

A couple of items of feedback:

Cars:  Avance cars were great!

Villa Super - Hiona was extremely accommodating and very, very helpful. Starter kit of ice, bread, beers, oil, salt, loo roll, soap etc was extremely useful and welcome.

I am already looking at booking a villa through you. Next  year - either Kefalonia or Spetses - have started mobilizing the troops and working through your lists!!

Hope your season is going well.

Talie

We spent a lovely holiday at villa Hydroussa. Everything was fine (except the meltemi in some days :)  ). The housekeeper was very helpfull/friendly  and cooked us some delicious meals. The owner -Hiona - ,being on the island at that time ,helped us with some  good addresses for restaurants and beaches.

Thanks and all the best,

Dragos

Caroline E. arrived 23th May 2015  Thank you properly for all you did for us, so now my feet have touched the ground and I am well and truly back in England, I must make amends.

So, thank you so much for organising everything for us, and also for letting us stay the extra days at the house, a great help.

We had such a wonderful time at Villa Hydroussa, and on Andros.  What a beautiful and spectacular island.  Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, especially the lovely lady who came to the house everyday to clean - I am afraid I never learned her name.  The family made very full use of the swimming pool, and the rooms were very interesting and unusual.  We all just loved it, and will be recommending it to our friends and family.

We explored Andros, more after the younger ones had departed, and my husband and I were on our own.  There are wonderful remote beaches to find and swim off (mind you, the drive down to them took a huge amount of nerve on my part, as I am very wobbly with vertical drops - worth the trauma though!!).  We had a few interesting walks, to ancient ruins, a Venetian castle, into Andros Town, which was charming, and into deserted and remote villages.  But most spectacular of all was the drive right over the island through the mountains.  Absolutely wonderful.  The wild flowers were so beautiful too.

Please send on our thanks to the owner especially for all the food that was included, and the entirely unexpected feast that she had laid on for our arrival.  What a surprise and a great treat.

I hope that we will be in touch again for another adventure. Good luck Greece, we have left some of our hearts there.

With many thanks

Caroline, on behalf of the entire E. tribe.

Johanna L. arrived 09th May 2015 Villa Hydroussa was wonderful and everything was just perfect! The owner of the villa and her father vas very kind and gave us good service, and Angela took good care of the cleaning of the villa :)

Thank you also for excellent service from you at Pretty Greek villas!

Thanks, and I hope to be back next year!

Best regards,

Johanna L.

Angela C. arrived 25th May 2013 We all enjoyed our week at villa Hydroussa and we loved Andros.

Was great to find the owner Hiona waiting for us, who we felt was genuinely concerned that we would have a good time. The house is very pretty and one could sense her attention to detail which made the rooms really attractive and highly individualistic.

All the best

Angela C.

Juliette D. arrived 4th Aug 2012

We had a really wonderfull time at Villa Hydroussa.
The place was marvelous, really corresponding to what we were looking for:
Beautiful house and nice decoration, great view, charming housekeeping people, beautiful and not too crowed beaches and villages: perfect!
Thank you for your help and hope to contact you again next season!

Best regards,
Cordialement,
Juliette D. D.

Francesca E. arrived 3th Sept 2011

We had a wonderful time at 'Amongst the Olives'. The villa was
beautiful and suited our two family groups perfectly. The setting was idyllic - was a glorious view of Ithaca across the way, and pine and olive trees, and absolute tranquillity all around. The children loved the pool of course.
Schweb was a great asset, a fantastic cook and a lovely person.
The island was also very beautiful though we didn't explore it as much as we'd have liked to, so there's a good chance we may come back.
I'm happy to recommend the villa and your company, to our clients also and as I told Mary Louise initially, would be happy to collaborate in future, also if any of your clients have requests for sailing yachts while they are in Greece.

Thank you for your help,
Francesca

Pauline D. arrived 6th Aug 2011

We were very happy of our holidays in Greece, and especially of our house in Andros.

Best regards
Pauline D.

Colleen L. arrived 28th May 2011

We are now back home and missing the beautiful views from Villa Hydroussa on Andros. What a great holiday we had, the villa was very comfortable, the pool area and views of Korthi bay spectacular, and the village of Korthi just lovely. Many thanks for organising the taxi service to and from the airport for Diane and Colin, glad they made it on time to get the ferry to Andros, and for our taxi's and my brother Duncan's too.

We all enjoyed the holiday immensely and would recommend the villa to other guests without hesitation, as well as the restaurant Sea Satin in the village, for lunches and morning coffees. Restaurant Vintsi was also good with lovely views over the sea.

Kind regards
Colleen L.

Thank you so much for all the arranging you did for our holiday at Villa Hydroussa. The logistics worked out perfectly. As for the villa, well it is absolutely stunning. We loved the pool terrace and the views over the valley. The weather was lovely and warm while we were there and so we really appreciated the fact that there was always a shady spot to be found somewhere around the property even in the heat of the day.

Korthi Bay was a delight with all the little alleyways, friendly shop owners, beautiful fresh bread and great coffees at Sea Satin.

We would love to return sometime to this gorgeous island. Thanks again for all your assistance.

Regards,
Heather

Leora R. arrived 3th Aug 2010

We had a wonderful time at Hydrussa. Hiona and her father are such fantastic people.
Nina gave birth a week ago to beautiful Amalia, and we are expecting another grand child in March.
If its going to be all of us together, which i am not sure yet, we shall need more space, yet it does not have to be entirely together, we can spread.

All the best to you and Ben
Leora

Calum G. arrived 28th May 2010

Many thanks for all your help and organisation. We had a really great holiday and everything bar British Airways went pretty smoothly. Mohammad was great - a delightful man, nothing was too much trouble and we all enjoyed his cooking, particularly the Greek cuisine.

With kind regards
Shona

I agree with Shona - lovely villa, lovely holiday.
Thanks very much - great holiday.
