Wine Growers Cottage
Beautifully renovated cottage still featuring the original wine-press in the ktichen. The property has its own private pool, walking distance to the beach and is set in large grounds surrounded by nature. The fishing village of Fiskardo is just a few mins away by car.
Beautifully and artistically renovated cottage that is situated close to Fiskardo with its own private pool and views across Fiskardo bay
Secluded and surrounded by nature, the Wine-Grower’s Cottage exudes simplicity and charm. With a backdrop of the velvety green cypress forests and views right across Fiskardo bay to the island of Ithaka, the cottage is in an ideal location for guests to enjoy a peaceful holiday retreat yet close to the beach and to amenities.
The cottage has been beautifully renovated and the rhythm of its architecture reflects the gentle sunny slope on which it has stood for the last few hundred years. The ground floor is an L-shape with a lovely open plan kitchen still featuring the original wine-press from times gone by when the family would have pressed their grapes here in the kitchen. Both the kitchen and dining area are decorated in a sunny ochre-yellow which contrasts beautifully with the original 19th Century decorative floor tiles. A few steps lead up to an open living area with a cosy sofa piled with cushions and armchair set around the fireplace. From the windows set in the metre-thick stone walls, guests can enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside with the sea glistening below.
The same staircase leads down to a lower level where there is a very peaceful double bedroom with white-washed walls and soft, antique brick floor. This bedroom has French windows leading out to its own patio shaded by a vine-covered pergola.
On the ground floor to the left of the kitchen a corridor leads to a spacious bathroom with shower, marble basin and wonderful antique tiled floor that serves both bedrooms. Further along the corridor is the second double bedroom decorated in a soft apple green with exposed beams and French windows leading to the garden and pool terrace.
The property has a fully equipped kitchen including dish-washer as well as air-conditioning, TV, DVD and Bluetooth speakers so guests can access their own music collection.
The cottage is nestled in acres of woodland with a large garden that blends in naturally with the surrounding nature. In spring and autumn, the ground is carpeted in wild crocus and cyclamen. Lavender and aromatic plants tumble over the stone walls. Fruit trees and age-old olives as well as Mediterranean pine, birch and cypress trees provide a refreshing coolness on long hot summer days with just the sound of the birds singing or a goat bell tinkling gently in the sea-breeze.
The cottage has its own private pool, a lovely outdoor shaded dining area and comfortable loungers from which to sit and enjoy the wonderful view across the ‘wine-dark sea’ to the island of Ithaka. Through the grounds, a little pathway leads to a track that takes you down to the seashore where there is a secluded beach and bay with crystal-clear water.
Although the property is very secluded and quiet, it is just a few minutes drive from the colourful fishing village of Fiskardo which is one of the prettiest on the island. Guests can choose from an array of waterfront restaurants or cafes, wander along the narrow streets that burst with blooms of bougainvillea, explore the boutique shops and watch the yachts and ‘caique’ fishing boats come and go. Boat hire is available locally and a wonderful day out is to take a boat and explore the many coves and bays that lie along this part of the coast as well as around the island of Ithaka opposite.
Wine-Grower’s Cottage is a little jewel that is becoming rarer to find now in Greece. It is an idyllic property for honeymooners and couples wanting to find total seclusion and privacy as well as for small families who love to have large grounds for the children to play with beach and village close by.
Secluded and peaceful, this very pretty 2 bedroom cottage with its own pool is surrounded by nature and is perfect for honeymooners, or a small family looking for a property with large grounds. A track leads through the land to a quiet bay and beach with crystal-clear water. Amenities are not far away - the picturesque fishing village of Fiskardo is just a few mins by car. Boats can also be hired locally.

Sadly, we are back from our lovely stay in Greece! Despite the ferry strike, fully booked flights, demonstrations in Athens and having to spend extra time on the mainland - we had a simply wonderful time and loved it!
It was so disappointing to arrive into Kyllini and discover that there was a ferry strike but our host at the Fragos Garden Studios was so hospitable, helpful and accommodating - Kostantinos made it all much less painful. He really couldn't do enough to help and make sure that we were well taken care of. I would highly recommend a stay at his dear little hotel to anyone! I must also mention that Vasillis was wonderful. He met us and drove us safely and well, even stopping for us to find an ATM so that we could draw money. Great guy.
Then your help and concern for us was very reassuring and we want to thank you so much for that. Our unscheduled stay in Athens turned out well as we got to explore the Acropolis and the new museum on a beautiful spring day without the intense heat that often goes with that visit.
The lads that met us at the airport in Kefalonia at 10pm with our (upgraded - thank you Katerina) car were so friendly and helpful but despite all their directions - and your written ones, we got horribly lost trying to find our way onto the right road. Partly this was because the English on the road signs either doesn't reflect at night or at times was scribbled out with graffiti ! However, we were helped and met by Freddie from the Wine Growers who personally escorted us to our cottage. We couldn't have done it without him! To find the fridge stocked with breakfast and beer and wine was above and beyond!
What a delight that little stone-cottage is! In every sense of the word but summed up best perhaps by my husband who on waking the next morning and seeing that view said, "I think we've just found a little piece of heaven!".
Thank you for your part in making our anniversary trip so special.
You have probably gathered that we are owners of a Travel Agency - we specialize in customizing trips, mainly to Africa on photographic safaris - and we love to find little gems like this! I have sent folk to your website before and can with confidence say you run an excellent portfolio. We look forward to our next stay already (personally!) and to matching only our very special clients to one of your special properties should the opportunity arise!
All the very best for a good summer season and thanks again!

We had a lovely time thankyou and like all holidays it was all over too quickly and it's a pain being back at work ! The cottage is very nice and suited us perfectly, the whole development is very tastefully done. It certainly meets the criteria for being private and isolated, just what we wanted. Thank you for arranging the car hire and boat hire, it all went very smoothly. One comment that might be helpful is that probably three days boating is enough for a week, and that the boat hire company is more than happy to book it on separate days, it isn't really necessary to block book the whole week in advance.

Many thanks for your message. We had an absolutely wonderful time. It really was heavenly. We will definitely be calling on your expertise again!
While the house was beautiful, Suabe fantastic and Freddie a really welcoming and generous host.
We had a wonderful time and were particularly grateful to Freddie for allowing my sister to camp in the garden. Please do pass on our thanks.
Thank you again.

Thank you for your email - the Wine Grower's Cottage is charming, well kept, and a haven for anyone who wants peace and quiet to loll and read.
We unfortunately had unseasonably chilly weather while we were there - it was warmer in England! - so didn't swim, but the pool and the little beach looked very nice.
With best wishes,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your e mail.
Our experience with Pretty Greek Villas was nothing short of perfect - we received first class treatment all the way from our first enquiry last January to the end of our vacation.
My husband and I were desperately in need of a break having worked hard and not had a vacation for 4 years so we needed a place to relax and unwind with no distractions and interruptions, we certainly found that, it was exactly what we needed.
The cottage was idyllic, Suabe (apologies if that is incorrect spelling) was always there when needed and very unobtrusive, I have recommended you to so many people. We love the Greek Islands and have only visited Kefalonia so far but now we have found a company who know the islands well and are so very helpful we may explore further next year with your recommendation. You have achieved the perfect balance of being friendly but still professional in your dealings with clients.
Thank you so very much for 2 weeks of pure escapism and relaxation.
John Rochford arrived 24/05/2014
We had a wonderful holiday thank you.
Pretty Greek Villas service - 10 out 10 - Excellent, very friendly, good advice, passed on all our requests to the property owner.
Villa location - 10 out 10 - Perfect, as described, secluded, private, peaceful. The little beach just down from the cottage was absolutely wonderful.
Daily visit by the goat herd was a real treat.
Fiscardo - 9 out 10 - Superb restaurants, very pretty, very friendly.
We would definitely use Pretty Greek Villas again !!.
Thank Anna and Marie-Louise for their help. We would be pleased to hear their suggestions for next year.
Same again, private and secluded (all-over-tan most definitely possible !), peaceful,
must be essentially "Greek", 10-15 minutes away from quality restaurants, 20-25 degrees in late May early June, we don't mind a modern villa rather than rustic.
Hannah Kornicka arrived 17/05/2014
We've just got back from an amazing week at Wine Growers in Kefalonia.
Wine Growers was perfect - every single detail of the house was
wonderful and Shuabe, the fantastic house keeper looked after any requests we
had. You have looked after us beautifully through every step and we very much look forward to
enjoying holidays with Pretty Greek Villas for many years to come.
We really did love it and spent a wonderful time enjoying a bottle of rose with freddy and his lovely wife up at their main house.
Wishing you a great summer and we look forward to another trip with you again soon
