An ancient smugglers' pathway leads you from the jetty to this neo-classical house. It is subtly decorated using Mediterranean colours. There are two double bedrooms, a spacious living room, modern kitchen and bathroom. The Hideaway is situated in large grounds with many peaceful places to sit and contemplate the views. Its large stone terrace is a perfect place for dining and in the evenings, lit by gas lamps, the Hideaway takes on a magical atmosphere. The best way to access the Captain's Hideaway is by hiring a small boat from the main harbour of Spetses or by water taxi (approx 10 mins). There is also a trail through the forest which is accessible by motorbike (20 mins from Spetses main town). Spetses is the southern most island in the Saronic group and has an aristocratic heritage evident in the many beautiful neo-classical mansions that line its harbour. The island has a sophisticated variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops and has always been a favourite holiday destination of the Athenians. There are frequent boat connections from Pireaus, the Peloponnese, and surrounding islands.
