The Archontiko, located in a traditional Cretan village near Chania, has a private swimming pool and is in close proximity to many sandy beaches. This property represents excellent value for money and provides great family accommodation in Greece for 7-8 guests.

The Archontiko is a 19th Century house that was once the residence of the Turkish Pasha of the region. Situated in a hilltop village near Chania, The Archontiko is one of the most historical and oldest houses of the area. The property has been carefully renovated and many original features have been retained. The village itself is full of beautiful, old stone houses with magnificent stone porticos, colourful pots of flowers, age-old oak trees and impressive views of both the coast and the immense ‘Lefki Ori’ mountains.

This is a spacious house with a layout that is excellent for either families or a group of friends. From the central entrance is a large reception room dominated by an impressive, old stone Cretan arch. This large double height room has a cosy and comfortable living area with TV and DVD as well as a more formal living area centred around the large fireplace. There is also a dining area for 8 and a very well equipped kitchen with large kitchen table ideal for family breakfasts or more informal gatherings. All furnishings have been carefully chosen in keeping with the style and era of the house. One of two main bathrooms of the house is also on this level.

One of the most beautiful characteristics of The Archontiko is its romantic bedrooms – each of the bedrooms is decorated with traditional Cretan beds either carved out of wood or stone. The upper level has one master bedroom with king sized bed, one double bedroom and one single bedroom. On this level, there is also a bathroom. Just above the main reception room and on the half-landing are two very sweet sleeping spaces with traditional Cretan single beds.

Outside, there is a lovely garden on various levels full of flowers, herbs and trees with plenty of places for relaxing and dining. There is a swimming pool of 40 sq.m as well as a small children’s pool.

The local beach is a lovely, long, sandy beach and is only approx 3 mins by car. It is within walking distance to the local village and all other amenties including supermarkets and a good variety of restaurants, cafes and so on can be found within a 2 min drive. The beautiful and historical town of Chania is approx 20 mins by car.
