Villa Aedoni is one of four stone villas that are in a spectacular setting high up over the Ionian Sea above the beach of Porto Katsiki. The villas are well-spaced out on the hillside to ensure privacy of surroundings. The villas have been built to traditional designs using natural materials and local stone and each villa has its own private swimming pool.
Villa Aedoni is a spacious villa on two levels and each level has both internal access via the wooden staircase, as well as independent exterior access. Both levels are self-contained and have been very well designed to give flexible accommodation to suit most types of party.
The first level floor is wooden in the local traditional manner, and the ceilings are supported by trunks of pines and cypresses. On the ground level, the floor is set with marble and the ceilings are made of traditional Lefkas island white wood. The paint and plastering of the walls and ceilings are based on natural materials that allow the underlying elements to breathe. Their soothing colours add to the serene atmosphere.
On the first level there is a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom with adjoining bathroom. The living room is spacious with an exceptional view, and has a large couch (seats 5), manufactured with ecological materials, that can be changed into a comfortable bed (0.90 x 2.40m). In addition, it has an armchair that can also be changed into a bed (0.90 x 2.00 m), a traditional black iron wood stove, TV, DVD and CD players. The kitchen, at one end of the living room, has a large dining table and chairs, and is completely equipped with a big refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and coffee machine.
The bedroom is fully equipped with two single wooden beds (1.00 x 2.10 m. each) which can be joined into a double bed (2.00 x 2.10) without a gap in between. Headrests, mattresses and mattress supports are chosen for their ecological materials. The bedroom also has TV DVD and CD players. The bed faces the 2 m wide french windows with a view to the sea and the islands of Ithaka and Kefalonia. The adjoining bathroom is beautifully designed with marble floors and hand-made tiles and features a Jacuzzi.
Descending the internal wooden staircase from the first floor to the ground floor we find a central room which can be used either as a 2nd living room with kitchen and dining facilities, or as a fourth bedroom. In this large room, there is a double sofa bed (1.40 x 2.00 m), and an armchair bed (0.90 x 2.00 m) in one area, as well as a small range, a dishwasher, a small walled refrigerator and a coffee machine in the kitchen area. In this space there is also a separate WC and a small storage closet. On this level there are two further bedrooms each with its own bathroom – one bathroom has a tub with Jacuzzi and the other a bathroom with shower. Both bathrooms are as stunning as the top floor bathroom with marble floors and hand-made tiles. Each bedroom has two large separate beds (1.00 X 2.10 m) which also can be joined into a double bed (2.00 x 2.10 m). The bedrooms have big french windows which lead out onto a wonderful arched stone veranda that connects to the courtyard and swimming pool area. The views from the arched veranda are utterly spectacular as you look right out across the Ionian Sea.
The villa has its own private 4 x 10m swimming pool. Around the pool, there is a spacious teak lounge area with deck chairs and umbrellas. There are more outdoor loungers, BBQ and a parking space in front of the property.
There is air conditioning in every room. However, the excellent microclimatic conditions of the region, the summer breeze and the local winds, in combination with the orientation of the house and the arrangement of the exterior openings ensure natural cooling even during hot summer days and render air conditioning unnecessary.
The villa is close to two of Greece's most spectacular beaches, Egremnoi and Porto Katsiki. The villa also lies within a short drive of the bay of Vassiliki, famous for its windsurfing and sailing.
Please note that the road up to the villa has now been asphalted but it has steep drops on one side so drivers need to be confident and with good driving skills.
All four villas are well-spaced out on the hillside to ensure privacy of surroundings. The villas have been built to traditional designs using natural materials and local stone and each has its own private swimming pool.
