The relaxed charm and beautiful design of Villa Aloni are apparent from the moment you walk through the antique doors into the cobbled central courtyard. A lovely soft pink lime washed house with iroko shutters, it boasts the perfect layout for two families, extensive grounds, an infinity pool and plenty of games and facilities to keep all ages happy all holiday.

Inside there is a very large open plan living space with antique terracotta tiled floors and comfortable seating round a TV and corner fireplace. There is a dining area, an office/writing area and a well equipped open plan kitchen. This has two fridges, two dishwashers, two sinks, a scullery and island unit. A further utility space has a washing machine and an outside drying area.

Through large French windows is the shaded loggia at the centre of summer living area with its large built in sofas, dining table and large bbq with spit. A further seating area under an olive tree is designed for the young to be close but not too close!

There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in the main house, plus a further bedroom in the pool house. Unusually, Villa Aloni features two equally luxurious master bedroom suites. Each has its own en suite and terrace area with wonderful views. A 3rd self contained double bedroom suite is reached from the courtyard, whilst the 4th and 5th bedrooms share a bathroom and constitute a separate wing for children with a door! One of these bedroom can be made up as either a twin or double bed, whilst the other is a charming small room with traditional built in beds more suitable for children.

The pool house is self contained, and gives onto the extensive swimming pool terraces. It has wonderful views over the Ionian sea to the Greek mainland and features a playroom that can be converted into a double/twin bedroom. There is a drinks area with a large fridge and sink, a loo, and funky outdoor shower. Teenagers would love it, or it is often used by the owners for a nanny.

Villa Aloni is very well equipped indeed and all five bedrooms in the house have airconditioning (the pool house has a Dyson air blade fan. There are small booksafes in the main bedrooms and in the childrens wing, hairdryers in all bedrooms, wifi, blue tooth speakers, TV, DVD, printer, Nespresso machine and a small library of interesting books and films. The whole property has been stylishly decorated with interesting furniture and artworks and it is, as the owner describes it, a much loved and relaxing retreat of barefoot lux

In July and August there is a daily maid service, and at other times of the year it is three times weekly. With advance warning it is possible to book a masseuse to come to the house, babysitting and a pre-arrival food and drink shop so that everything is waiting for you in the various fridges!

Surrounding the villa are some 6 acres of private grounds laid out to orchard (pomegranates, almonds, apricots and figs) and olive groves. The gardener tends the rosemary edged paths which meander towards shaded seating areas, a floodlit boules court, a table tennis terrace and a large second dining terrace. This has a very large dining table that seats 12, has a pizza oven and is situated under a vine pergola and surrounded by clouds of blue plumbago. Pretty stone archways with wooden double doors surround the pool terrace where the freshwater infinity pool (4.8m x 9 m) is flanked by a generous shaded area and comfortable sun loungers with cushions.

There are plenty of games to keep everyone happy including boules, table tennis, darts, table football, and giant jenga.

The property is situated in the sought after North Eastern corner of Zakynthos, renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and close to the little port of Aghios Nikolaos from where the ferry goes to Kefalonia. Shops, tavernas, swimming coves are all to be found within a 10 minute drive, and there is a small ‘mikro market’ for essentials 500 metres away at the end of the long driveway. Chemist, bakery and small local bars can be found in the old Venetian village in the hills above the house. Boats can be hired locally and the famous shipwreck beach and blue caves are close by. Water sports can be booked at nearby Alykes, and 30 minutes further away a large water park.

For a villa that has so much to offer and with oodles of charm beg, borrow or steal. It is worth every cent!
