Amongst The Olives invokes all the beauty and lyricism of the long, summer days of life on the islands. From the very first moment, when you glimpse its old stone walls brushed by the passing of time nestled in an ancient olive grove whose mossy floor is starred with delicate pink wild cyclamen, with the emerald green sea just beyond, you will know that you have arrived at a place of indescribable peace and happiness.
The beauty, integrity and artistry is seen throughout the property which comprises of two separate stone houses.
The larger of the two houses has a large L-shaped open plan space with comfortable and elegant living area with a dining area at the top end of the room. The thick stone walls and old marble flagged floors which have worn down to a gentle ochre patina lend a coolness and rustic elegance to the scene. An archway from the kitchen leads through to a traditional farm-house style kitchen. The large pine-scrubbed kitchen table redolent of many happy family meals, the original bread oven still in full working order (excellent for home-made pizza!) and the many original touches throughout are delightful and blend perfectly with the full modern kitchen facilities that are to be found in any luxury property. The outside veranda and dining area is a peaceful spot to enjoy balmy, summer days under the shade of its jasmine-scented pergola.
Rustic cut stone steps lead upstairs to two bedrooms. On the left is a wonderful traditional style platform bedroom: This has one separate single mattress, one single mattress next to this with a bunk above. This room could work easily for either 3 children or even a couple. The bathroom with WC and shower is located opposite in the hallway. At the end of the hallway is the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. These two bedrooms have direct access to a long veranda from which you have a magnificent view across the wine-dark sea to the island of Ithaka.
A short pathway through the garden leads to the smaller of the stone houses. Upon entering, there is a hallway with kitchenette. To the left of the hallway is a serenely beautiful double bedroom, and to the right is a very pretty bedroom with two single divan beds. Both bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms. The little cottage is reminiscent of a romantic hideaway surrounded by wild flowers.
The property is very comfortable and well-equipped with air-conditioning in both bedrooms of the main house, and new air-conditioning units in both bedrooms of the guest house. There are Hunter ceiling fans, Bluetooth speakers so guests can access their own music collection, WIFI, and a Nespresso machine in the kitchen. (Please note some Nespresso capsules are provided for the start of the holiday but guests who enjoy Espresso should bring capsules with them since they are not sold in the local shops.)
The garden is on different terraced levels and its natural beauty with its graceful stone walls, hundreds of wild bulbs, meadow flowers and wild herbs has been encouraged alongside plantings of traditional Mediterranean shrubs such as rosemary and lavender. Throughout the garden, there are many hidden spots to discover, a quiet corner for reading, a beautiful old picnic table and benches weathered by time, areas for lounging and enjoying the scents of the garden and a newly built outdoor dining area covered by a pergola located just outside the main house. Just beyond the smaller house and nestled into the garden is a lovely swimming pool with a beautiful terrace surrounding it made from old-style bricks. From here, there is a gorgeous view over the bay to the island of Ithaka. A gateway from the end of the garden leads into the cypress forest where there is a short walk to the local beach.
The property is ideally located being in a private and quiet spot in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Yet within a 5 minute drive, you can be in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Fiskardo with its colourful restaurants, cafes and shops that line the quayside. Some of the best beaches of the island are within easy distance including Foki Bay, Myrtios, Assos, Alaties and Emblissi. Boats can be hired locally from Fiskardo.
Amongst The Olives is ideally located being in a private and quiet spot in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Yet within a 5 minute drive, you can be in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Fiskardo with its colourful restaurants, cafes and shops that line the quayside. A fabulous opportunity to rent such a unique property on this very sought after island of Kefalonia.
Prices below include a daily housekeeper who also cooks breakfast and one main meal twice a week. Extra cooking and and preparation of breakfast on additional days can be arranged at a reasonable extra cost.
Please note that part of the charm of the property is the old stone steps and walkways dating back hundreds of years. Some guests who are not steady on their feet such as toddlers or the elderly may find the uneven surfaces outside difficult.

I wanted to say that we absolutely LOVED our month stay in amongst the olives in september.
The villa was astounding, really peaceful, very comfortable, all the beds were fantastic. Which is not always a given in a rental property. The bedding too was of great standard which also isn't always a given but very important. The local recommendations and the support you gave were thoughtful and genuinely useful. The equipment for the babies was great - though I would consider investing in highchairs with straps, as they are broken. Thank you for assisting on booking a restaurant and for being so promptly available on whatsapp.

We had the most amazing family holiday last week. Amongst the Olives villa was just beautiful, more than we imagined, very clean and well equipped. It was great to have the personal contact with Marie Louise at every stage and she was very efficient with our queries and very accommodating with one deposit as at one stage due to a family problem we might have had to cancel, pleased to say we didn’t but if I’d have booked with a large company they would not have been so accommodating. Suabe was amazing, a brilliant cook and just a lovely kind person, nothing was too much trouble. We took Marie Louise recommendation and booked a private all day boat trip with Stefano and crew, he was wonderful, such fun and took us all over and the buffet lunch was amazing. The only one tiny comment would be that in the details it only mentioned that three of the bedrooms had air conditioning but in fact the all had it in so you might want to change your information as it might put people off and we did take a small fan, other than that you have a wonderful villa and I will always try and book again with your company.

We had a wonderful week at Amongst the Olives! Truly relaxing, and it was nice to meet Suabe. We thought the villa was beautiful, and really loved all the vintage furniture and treasures in all the rooms – it had great character, and such a wonderful location. We loved the views, and the (almost) private beach! We felt the villa was also well equipped in the kitchen – we didn't cook at home, as preferred to experience local restaurants, but we were grateful for the juicer, coffee machine and plentiful crockery. Also very appreciative of the welcome groceries and wine, which were a very nice surprise on arrival! We would be delighted to book with your company again in future, and would certainly recommend.

Marie-Louise, As I tap this out we are nearing the end of our wonderful holiday in Amongst the Olives, we are most grateful that we have been able to extend our stay for 72 hours to avoid the dreaded quarantining in the UK. I have to say that the Fiskardo Medical Centre was most efficient in organising & administering our Antigen tests, I trust that Heathrow will be likewise efficient later this evening!

All in all it’s a lovely spot that looks well loved and cared for and the owner, the helper, and you did as much as you could to look after us in a very unusual situation. Neighbours called on us to check we were ok. One guy gave us a lift in his car part way when we were carrying provisions back from Fiscardo as the road was only just re-opening. We hope everyone affected recovers from the storm as quickly as possible - we were hugely impressed with the resilience and community effort to try to recreate normality.

We had a wonderful time at the villa. It was certainly the beautiful and relaxing place that we were hoping for. We also really appreciated Schweb. He ending up cooking for us every evening. All the meals were excellent and his constant happy smile matched the sunshine. It is very difficult to find fault with the villa, as it had bags of charm, was well appointed and is clearly maintained with pride. Our only suggestion would be to provide a third parasol. We really enjoyed our time at Amongst The Olives. The villa was perfect for us, so pretty, quiet and well-located. It was a lucky accident that we ended up in the prettiest part of Kefalonia on our first visit there. Shweb was fantastic and we thought his cooking was far better than any of the restaurants on the list. The house was immaculate and well equipped. Everything was really great.
