Villa Cleodora is an exceptional property that has been sensitively and artistically restored retaining the original character of the house without compromising on modern facilities. It is in an excellent location being walking distance to both the Old Harbour and to the town of Dapia.
The property comprises a main house with 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom, and a guest house with 1 double bedroom. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms.
Two lines of columns form the structure of an arched pergola which shades the cobbled footpath leading to the front door. There are two marble patios on either side which are a perfect place to sit, eat, drink, talk to a friend or clatter the dice on a backgammon board whilst enjoying the scents of the surrounding garden.
From the elegant square entrance hall there is a large kitchen and dining area. The kitchen fittings are modern and dramatic with jet-black cupboards blending well with colourful tiling, and smart stainless steel fittings. A traditional wooden ceiling is a reminder of the past and works in harmony with the terracotta walls and dove-grey paintwork. The overall effect is tasteful and peaceful.
To the left of this entrance hall are two doors. The first leads to a double bedroom with cast iron four poster bed and reading desk in the corner. The second door leads to an impressive bathroom suite tiled in a Neo-Classical style with modern shower.
From the entrance hall, stairs lead up to a quiet reading area with views over the entrance pergola. This space is painted in grey and decorated with ethnic style rugs. Next to this is a spacious living room with a combination of built-in sofa and antique pieces. Large French windows look onto the Old Harbour below. On this level there are two bedrooms: The first is a twin bedroom featuring antique furniture with separate bathroom featuring delicate Neo-Classical tiling and modern shower. The second is a double bedroom with beautiful wrought-iron bed and antique furniture with en-suite bathroom.
From the kitchen there is a central courtyard planted with colorful bougainvillea and the heady scent of jasmine. As with many traditional Eastern gardens, there is an old well in one corner, and in the other a large slab of stone containing an old fashioned grill fired from the olive branches stored beneath. Central to this is a peaceful outdoor dining area with table and chairs painted in white.
From this courtyard, an arched door leads to a beautiful 4th bedroom with double bed and en-suite facilities. This bedroom features traditional pale stone-flag floors with steps leading up to the bathroom decorated with traditional Neo-Classical tiles and modern shower. From the central courtyard, steps lead up to a large verandah with views over the Old Harbour below.
Villa Cleodora has WIFI, air-conditioning in some rooms and fans.
The property and its surroundings are very peaceful. The Old Harbour which is the centre of the summer social scene and has an array of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars is within easy walking distance as is the town of Dapia. Garyfallo beach is within a few minutes walk, and Paradise Beach at Aghia Marina with its excellent beach bar, umbrellas, loungers and watersports facilities is about a 10 min walk away.
Although this property does not have a pool, it is one of the most beautiful properties we have found on the island of Spetses. It is perfect for guests who appreciate classical beauty and elegant surroundings.
