Walking distance to the beach and a short drive to the sought after town of Fiskardo this former fisherman’s cottage has been tastefully and sensitively restored making the most of traditional techniques and materials of the island - thick stone walls, terracotta roof tiles, wooden windows and doors protected by little wooden shutters feature throughout the property.
The cottage is surrounded by a private garden filled with herbs, citrus trees, fruit trees and olives which infuse the surroundings with heady scents throughout the summer months. The whole property is a constant reminder of the essential ingredients which make the Mediterranean such a wonderful place.
A wooden doorway, protected by a glass porch provides a charming entrance to the main living space. An open plan room with vaulted wooden ceiling painted in a serene almond shade and wonderful old stone flagging gives this living, dining and kitchen space a traditional and simple yet artistic feel. The furniture is in keeping with the property and blends perfectly with the traditional charm. Wooden table and chairs, a wooden sofa with scatter cushions in abundance, cooking utensils and pots hung from a cast iron griddle suspended over the kitchen area, a pretty plate rack on the wall, all stylishly positioned -nothing too fussy, everything a pleasant reminder of cozy island life. Modern amenities haven’t been forgotten - a TV and DVD will keep the children content.
The kitchen is small but perfect for a family of four and includes a dish-washer. It features a lovely old marble sink surrounded by beautiful antique tiles that come from the Neo-classical period. These maroon and black tiles blend superbly with the pale shades of the interior.
Also on the ground level is the master bedroom which has been built on the surrounding rocks which protrude into the space making an unusual but stunning feature. The room is elegantly lit with conveniently placed reading lamps, and the antique carved wooden bed has a comfortable modern mattress. Next door is a WC and shower where the theme of the house has been continued.
Wooden stairs painted a matt grey lead to the upper level and an old oar on the wall is a reminder of the property’s history. Upstairs, a lovely twin bedroom awaits with painted wooden floor and ceiling. There are twin beds which can be conveniently rearranged in the event of two couples occupying the property. This upper bedroom benefits from its own bathroom which has a WC and shower.
Both bedrooms have air-conditioning and the living room is cooled by a ceiling fan. The walls of the property are thick and made of stone so the property maintains a perfect temperature even in the height of the summer.
The property has TV, DVD and Bluetooth speakers so guests can access their own music collection. There is WIFI but it is limited to social media and emails (no movies) since the central internet unit up in the village is quite far from the cottage. However, 4G works perfectly well so guests with a data package on their phone would be able to access a faster connection. There is an excellent housekeeper included twice per week who also does the guests' laundry once a week.
Outside, the garden is host to a 600 year old olive tree which is large enough to support a hammock within its branches. Old stone walls break up the space creating several terraced levels, each providing the perfect spot for a particular summer activity. The pool terrace with its 8 x 4.5 meter swimming pool is surrounded by stone flagging and teak loungers. The dining terrace, conveniently located near the kitchen, is perfect for al-fresco meals with views of the sea and neighbouring island of Ithaka. Another area shaded by the surrounding trees is a perfect spot to curl up with a favourite book or for a game of backgammon accompanied by a glass of chilled ouzo. Fruit and citrus trees abound including lemons, oranges, apricots and almonds and the heady scent on a summer’s day is delicious.
A short walk away through the trees is a delightful cove and beach. The picturesque fishing village of Fiskardo is only a 5 minute drive away and boats can be hired from the harbour. There are many beautiful beaches and pretty villages to explore on this side of the island by hired boat or car.
So many wonderful, simple delights can be sampled by guests who stay at the Fisherman’s House in this unspoiled and enchanting area of Kefalonia, nestled among ancient olives and surrounded by verdant cypress forests and indigenous flowers.

We loved Fisherman's Cottage and finally enjoyed our long-planned holiday there. Everything worked beautifully in the house, and we really appreciated that there was lovely furniture and dishes - no plastic furniture. We swam almost every morning at Emplisi beach and went down to the cove below the house in the evenings. Suabe was wonderful - discreet and attentive.

We had the most wonderful stay at Fisherman’s Cottage and sincerely hope to return. The cottage has everything you need - it is very well equipped and we were particularly impressed with the size and efficiency of the fridge and freezer! We used the pool every day and the temperature was perfect even in the late afternoon. It was a pleasure to meet Suabe. We spent some years in Bangladesh where Suabe is from, so it was nice to talk about his home country. One night he cooked us a Bengali morog polau, mixed veg and yoghurt and pineapple dessert???it was delicious; he was smartly dressed in his catering jacket and you could see he took great pride in the meal he was preparing for us. Suabe keeps the place spic and span and is respectful of your privacy. Nothing is too much trouble and he will help you in any way he can. He is an exceptional man and a real asset to PGV.

We had a marvellous stay at Fisherman's Cottage, what a great find! It is in a truly delightful location, and the style and ambience of the cottage itself was perfect. We cannot fault the facilities, the presentation or the cleanliness, and we genuinely relaxed from the moment we arrived. Saube met us and was courteous and helpful throughout our stay .. and he cooked us a wonderful meal too! We had a very relaxing week’s stay in Fisherman’s cottage . All was as we expected and thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cottage . A plus point was Saube, who looked after the cottage , who cooked us a delicious Bengali chicken curry , with enough food to last us several days! We are using your services again at the end of July for a week’s stay at villa Rhapsody on Lefkada, but this time taking more family members!

We had the best time once again at Fisherman's Cottage, it's so peaceful and beautiful there. We hired bikes from Ainos in Argostoli for three days and cycled around the island which was amazing. No particular recommendations, other than the WiFi could be better.

Firstly, we had a wonderful holiday at the Fishermans cottage on Kefalonia. The location was fantastic, quiet and had everything we wanted. Suab, the housekeeper was extremely helpful, taking away our rubbish almost every day and cooked us a great meal. There were a couple of small problems eg, with the pluming but he organised a competent plumber to deal with the problem.

We - family of four - stayed in Fishermans Cottage, Kefalonia, for a week this June and found it an absolute delight. We have a holiday rental business and know exactly what effort goes into making places so welcoming and the subtle details that make all the difference to a holiday. Secluded and peaceful location, simple, authentic and stylish with a great pool and amazing old Olive trees and fruit trees with plentiful supplies of fresh oranges and lemons. On arrival in the late afternoon, we were greeted by an incredible symphony of goat bells as a herd made its way down the hillside near to the house (don t worry, not in the mornings!) was an amazing sound. Our housekeeper had prepared a fabulous meal and we had complimentary wine, ice, water, bread, fruit and enough for breakfast which meant we didn t have to rush to the shops. We hadn t expected any of this, so was a welcome surprise. ??The area was stunning and closest village full of good local produce and wines. The guest book was full of praise and we were genuinely sad to leave. PGV were great to deal with and incredibly helpful and I have already recommended them to several friends. We will definitely use PGV again and look forward to exploring other Greek Islands via them.

We loved it! From arrival to be greeted by the delightful Sueb to finding a well-stocked fridge and the discovery of a brilliantly appointed, comfortable house - and garden - it couldn't have been better. We were sorry not to have had a chance to sample Sueb's cooking but we so enjoyed shopping for food in Maganos and cooking for ourselves in the excellently stocked kitchen, and also trying out the local restaurants, that time ran out. I'm not sure we have ever had such a delightful holiday rental so thank you and your team so much for our stay at Fisherman's Cottage.

We absolutely adored Fishermans!! We are great villa renters and it is amongst the best we've ever stayed in! Suabe was charming and the way he so quietly and discreetly worked around us to tidy every day was fantastic. He was so helpful in every way. All the touches like beachwear, pool fun equipment.... The kitchen was so well equipped and we used the bbq. Bedding etc was high quality. Just fab.... And yet simple and rustic as we like. Nothing was flashy. We loved the morning sun watching it appear over Ithaca. The full fridge was great! Two days out in a boat a highlight. Great recommendation. And Evreti beach a delight. Really impressed with how reality matched villa description. Very impressed with PGV from booking to arrival. Special thanks to Ben for letting us stay there until 11.45 on departure day...hope it was ok for Suabe. We also loved our week on Lefkada, in Katouna. What an amazing village and you don't sell it nearly enough! Lefkada was very busy, esp the North and East and we loved escaping back to the peace and intimacy of the village. We ate at village tavernas every night....half the price of Fiscardo and only Greeks eating there! Such a great village and one evening we even had Montenegron dancing!

We loved Fisherman's cottage. We were in 7th Heaven with the pool and the surrounding nature. We love the building and the sense of history with the ruins around.
