Easy summer living just steps away from the Aegean Sea
Seductive and peaceful, Koundouros House is situated on the tip of a small peninsula with endless views of the blue Aegean and the soft splash of the sea just metres away. This two bedroom villa is typical of the style of the island were highly skilled masons work with the brown-hued flinty stone to create dwellings that seem to spring from the earth and are in complete harmony with the surrounding environment.
Entering the property, there is a large open plan room comprising a living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. From the day bed, you have a unique view directly out over the sea from the large windows that have been carved into the floor and walls. Large sliding glass doors lead to a courtyard with a huge, stone arch at the entrance. This is a perfect spot for enjoying alfresco dining by the sea or relaxing in one of the many sun loungers.
From the side of the courtyard, there are a few steps leading up to the two bedrooms. The bedrooms are decorated in a typical Cycladic style with in-built beds, white-washed walls and a wonderful breeze that gently wafts through the windows. The master bedroom has a double bed and bathroom with bath and shower. The 2nd bedroom has one small double bed and 2 single beds and a bathroom with shower.
The highlight of this property is its unique position right on the waterfront. Flowers cascade down the walls giving colour, and tamarisk trees give privacy and shade so that the whole property seems at one nestled into its landscape. There is a large sunbathing area with loungers, as well as steps that lead down to some large flat rocks to give direct access into the sea.
Koundouros is considered to be one of the most sought-after areas on the island of Kea. The bay has a Blue Flag beach denoting one of the cleanest beaches in Europe. Within walking distance are also some tavernas.
Kea is a tranquil island of great natural beauty with an interesting old town perched on a hill with tiny winding streets of colourfully painted houses, a bustling port below and many wonderful sandy beaches. It has escaped the influence of mass tourism and retains a uniquely Greek character. It is also easy to reach from Athens – regular ferries depart from Lavrion port and take just 1 hour to reach the island.
For guests who want to relax, eat well, recharge and enjoy easy summer living, this property is the perfect getaway.
