The Naxos Oasis is one of the most beautiful and luxurious retreats we have visited to date. It is perfect for special gatherings of family or friends and would be a fairytale setting for weddings with its chapel, romantic arbours and fragrant gardens, beautiful pool, large reception area and complete privacy. Although the villa is incredibly luxurious, its use of colour, traditional materials, comfortable furnishings and artistic flair gives a true sense of home and happiness.
The property consists of a main house on two levels, three separate guest cottages, a suite next to the pool and a fabulous entertainment wing. Entering the main house there is a very large open-plan space with stylish kitchen, gorgeous dining area and comfortable seating area around the fireplace. From this space, doors lead directly to the pool terrace. On this level, there are also two bedrooms: The serene ‘ivory’ double bedroom with ensuite bathroom that features a free-standing bath-tub, and the sumptuous ‘copper’ double bedroom that has a beautifully sculpted walk-in shower within the room, and a separate bathroom with WC and double-sink.
Softly sculpted steps lead to the lower level where you enter another strikingly large open plan space which is rather like a ‘chill-out’ zone where a large group of guests could truly relax and have fun. There are living areas, relaxing areas, eating areas, a fab pizza oven/bar area and all beautifully furnished and decorated. On this level there are three further bedrooms which can accommodate 8 guests. The ‘pebble’ double bedroom on its raised wooden dais which has its own ensuite-bathroom with shower, WC and as an added design touch a men’s urinal. The curvaceous ‘white’ bedroom and the ‘map’ bedroom’ with two sets of bunk beds featuring table-football and obviously ideal for kids or teenagers. These two bedrooms share a separate bathroom with truffle-sculpted walls and large walk-in shower.
Further accommodation can be found in the three separate guest houses which each feature a beautiful double bedroom and ensuite bathroom and are ideal for members of the party who may like to have a little bit more independence. Next to the pool is a separate suite which can accommodate two more guests.
Throughout the property, the work of traditional local artisans in the reed-ceilings, Naxos stone-work, delicate sculpted cement-work and traditional style furnishings form a perfect backdrop to the stunning use of colour and contemporary features. The villa has air-conditioning and WIFI throughout.
This remarkable eye for detail continues outside the property. The beautiful hanging lanterns on the main terrace over the outdoor dining area, the textural hairy lamps over the coffee area and outside armchairs. The pool continuing the sculptural theme with its whimsical bridge, massage fountain and relaxing day beds at either end. The ‘arbour walk’ and gardens laid out beautifully with lavender, jasmine, citrus and other scented flowers and beyond that the orchards and organic vegetable gardens. Towards the guest houses is another whole outdoor area with dining area, outdoor kitchen, large barbecue and outdoor bar.
In addition, there is a new wing adjacent to the main house. This is an entertainment space that can host large groups of guests. It is furnished with many different and unique sets of tables and chairs, sumptuous cushions and relaxing areas, and separate professional kitchen. This space has huge glass doors that open out onto the pool terrace and garden. Since the grounds also contain a private chapel, it is an ideal space for wedding receptions as well.
Naxos has some of the best sandy beaches found within Greece and the Oasis being located on the west side of the island is very close to one of the longest beaches of the island - a continuation of several sandy beaches some left natural, others organised and with tavernas right on the beach, and some with watersports including wind-surfing or kite surfing. We would recommend hiring a car but for guests who are reasonably fit, it is possible within approx 5 mins to walk to the nearest sandy beach and to the main town of the island. The true heart though of Naxos lies in its mountain villages where life carries on much as it always has done. Here you will find pretty houses, traditional village squares and tavernas serving excellent Greek food at reasonable prices. Despite the glorious beaches, Naxos has always attracted the real traveller rather than the tourist and therefore retained its traditions, charm and value.
Prices below are based on 12 guests. The property can accommodate up to 20 guests. For every extra guest please add EURO 125/week.
