Luxurious 3 bedroom villa, walking distance to village and sea, with private pool, large terrace and stunning sunset views.
Villa Oceanus is located on the outskirts of the fishing village of Assos - one of the prettiest villages in the Ionian. The villa is situated in an elevated position above the crystalline waters of Assos and with views over the entrance to the bay and the remains of the old Venetian castle.
A large, dove-grey, wooden gate opens onto a private walled courtyard garden full of colourful, indigenous plants, exuding an abundance of heady scents. The terrace offers a lovely swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers, BBQ area and alfresco dining area which is shaded by a pergola. The villa has lovely sea views towards the left side of the property over Assos bay and the Venetian castle (this villa does not have views out over the open sea to the right since this is partially obscured by the roof of the villa below).
The villa itself is very stylish and exceptionally well equipped and comprises of four split levels. The ground floor hosts a central living/dining area with satellite TV, DVD, Ipod and air-conditioning. There are large french windows which lead on to the pool terrace. A few steps lead to a half level which contains the kitchen, equipped with refrigerator, microwave, cooker, kettle, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and sandwich maker. On this level, there is also a separate bathroom with shower and WC which serves the first double bedroom and twin bedroom which are located just above.
The bedrooms are located over three split levels: A half level up is a beautiful double bedroom which is very well appointed and benefits from a balcony with stunning views across the bay. On the next level up is a lovely twin bedroom. In the attic, there is a 2nd master double bedroom with its own bathroom located on a half-landing, and with great views from the front facing window.
The entire property has air-conditioning.
The bay of Assos is frequented by all kinds of marine life and it is common to spot a lazy monk seal or a dolphin in the waters below after the yachts depart for safe anchorage. It’s a wonderful area for snorkeling and the sea-shore can be reached easily by a series of steps that meander through bushes of wild thyme, rosemary, cedar and sage. The path leads past the remains of an old lighthouse before arriving at a swimming platform next to the sea. Steps carved into the rock give easy access to the sublime waters.
Lying enticingly in the bay opposite is a small island which can be accessed from Assos by a narrow cause-way. This is a wonderful place to walk in the cool of the evening whilst the sun sets over the Lagonissi peninsula.
Assos village itself is host to a small number of traditional eateries, cafes and bars, all walking distance from the villa.
