Lovely Villa Ophelia is set in its quiet position just above the sea. We first saw this villa in the autumn bathed in a gentle golden light from the surrounding hills of Salandi. From its position, the villa has a beautiful and uninterrupted view right out over this peaceful bay.
A pathway leads through a garden filled with aromatic plants to the ground floor level. There is a spacious open-plan room with very comfortable living area, a nicely fitted kitchen with dishwasher, full oven, fridge/freezer, Nespresso machine and plenty of cookware and utensils. There is also a very comfortable and practical indoor dining area. The room has large glass doors which slide open (all with mosquito nets) from which guests can enjoy the panoramic sea views and access the two main terraces.
The master bedroom is on the upper level and with beautiful views over the sea both from the bed and its private verandah. This bedroom has a separate bathroom with shower.
On the lowest level of the house are two further bedrooms each with glass doors that lead out onto a patio with steps up to the swimming pool level. One bedroom has a double bed and the other twin beds. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with shower. There is also an additional small single bedroom (with no window) that can be used by guests if required.
The villa has been tastefully decorated throughout so each bedroom has been given its own colour with beautiful towels and bed linens to match. The overall theme is of the sea so in the kitchen and in details of the décor you will find serving dishes, plates, bowls, cups all with lovely designs to do with fish, crustaceans and the sea.
The villa has air-conditioning throughout as well as excellent ceiling fans, mosquito nets and shutters on all doors and windows, WIFI, washing machine and dishwasher. Twice weekly cleaning is included in the price. There is also a tennis court, basket ball and mini soccer available for guests’ use about 5 mins walk away.
Outside, there are two terraces above the swimming pool with outdoor living area and outdoor dining area with barbecue. The pool terrace is large with plenty of space for sun loungers. Surrounding the property are newly planted gardens with a variety of citrus trees as well as many aromatic plants. In the evening, as the sun sets the water on the bay changes to a milky-rosy hue and since there is very little electric light in the bay, the night sky is astonishingly clear.
The villa is just a few minutes walk down to the seashore where there are some very pretty coves with crystal clear water and shaded by pine trees. At the sea-shore is an excellent taverna serving local fish as well as many other dishes at reasonable prices and guests can stay all day sunbathing and swimming from here since the taverna also has sun loungers and umbrellas at the beach just below. (Please note that this taverna is open daily from mid June to mid September. At other times it is only at weekends or not at all).
For shopping, the traditional village of Didyma is about 10 mins drive away with some basic shops and tavernas. The cosmopolitan marina town of Porto Heli is approx. 25 mins drive where guests can also hire boats or do some waterports. From nearby Kosta harbour it is possible to take a water taxi 5 mins across the bay to the very pretty island of Spetses with its array of excellent restaurants, cafes and boutique shops. This is also an area rich in culture and history and within a day’s trip guests can access the Venetian town of Nafplion, Ancient Myceanae, The Sanctuary of Asklepios and the Ancient Amphitheatre at Epidavros as well as many other interesting sites.
Villa Ophelia is a great choice for guests wanting to enjoy an easy beach holiday in a quiet and fairly undiscovered setting.
