Orpheus has been designed with a contemporary element using traditional materials. The result is harmonious, blending modern with natural materials and reflecting the unique character of Tinos, an island loved by artists thanks to its unspoilt, wild beauty and rich tradition.
Built in local stone by traditional craftsmen, Orpheus villa sits in a Cycladic landscape of barren hills and natural surroundings. The view across the great expanse of the Aegean Sea, eleven islands silhouetted by the summer sun, provides a long lasting experience not to be forgotten. It is spectacular.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room and 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathroom.
With minimal styling to the indoor furniture, white washed walls and grey painted wooden ceiling, Orpheus pays homage to traditional Cycladic simplicity. A contemporary twist runs through the house with funky, elongated windows ‘picture framing’ specific features and larger windows bringing the impressive view inside. Modern art hangs on the walls giving a feeling of tranquillity to this beautiful property.
Entering the house, guests are greeted by a large open plan configuration consisting of living room, dining room and kitchen area. The living room is very comfortably furnished in a modern and simple style with sliding glass doors leading to a terrace outside. The sofa is L-shaped, and very comfortable in a blue/grey cloth. The dining area is perfect for breakfast being closely situated beside the well equipped kitchen with its coffee coloured ‘slab’ for a work top and elegant cupboards that match. Outside on the terrace there is a second table - perfect for al fresco dining or a comfortable place to sit in the evening, sipping away on a chilled glass of wine. TV, DVD, sound system and Wifi internet are all present at the villa.
There are two double bedrooms with ensuite facilities situated on the ground floor benefitting from AC. Each has direct access to the pool terrace and sunlounging area.
The upper level hosts a master double bedroom suite with super views over the Aegean Sea. Stylish built in wardrobes, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom facilities complete the luxury of this wonderful room.
Downstairs, the fourth, twin bedroom is located with ensuite facilities.
The floors running through the house are a mixture of polished cement and stone which are punctuated by wooden shelves and other little features in natural material. The effect is peaceful, modern, light and artistic.
Outside, the infinity pool and its surrounding terraces provide the perfect spot for lazy hours gazing into the amazing panorama. Under the beautifully designed pergola, built out of local stone and protected from the island’s strong Meltemi winds, guests can enjoy delicious meals made from the famous local produce of the island. The surrounding plot has vegetable and herb gardens from which the guests are encouraged to collect fresh herbs and vegetables of the season.
Located in the southeast side of Tinos close to Triantaros and Berdemiaros villages, Orpheus has been designed for total relaxation. The closest beach is 8 km drive away, while Tinos main town is a 15 minute drive.
Tinos is a special island, ideal for lovers of traditional architecture and nature. Guests can visit more than 50 traditional villages, each with distinct character and offering some of the best cuisine in Greece.
Tinos is considered a sacred island for Orthodox and Catholics alike and an annual pilgrimage takes place here every year. Guests can also enjoy great hikes or horse riding in scenic trails, and choose from many glorious beaches.
The tranquillity of the island is very much in evidence but it equally offers modern amenities and facilities including bank services, ATM, yacht marina and helipad. Tinos is well-connected to numerous other interesting islands including Mykonos, Andros, Syros, Naxos, Paros, Antiparos and as such can be a great choice for a multi-destination holiday. Built within the same plot but totally private is the sister villa - Eurydice. Neither property impinges, they are both totally private one from the other but they can be rented together to provide a great solution for larger groups.
Either way, Orpheus is a gem of a villa, suited to a large family or group of friends wanting to explore this slightly ‘off the beaten track’ island of Tinos. We loved it when we visited! Highly rated.
