Pretty family villa with private pool, gardens with lawn and great views over a serene bay

Villa Ostria is a modern stone villa set on a hillside with wonderful views over the serene bay of Salandi. The villa has a garden with lawns, children's play area and a lovely private swimming pool.

Villa Ostria is perfect for families with children. It has a private pool, garden with lawns, children's play area and fantastic views over the serene bay of Salandi. From its hillside position, it is a few mins drive or 10 mins walk to the beach. There is an excellent taverna next to the sea, and the main village is about a 10 min drive away.

The villa is all on one level. The front entrance leads into an open plan room with vaulted ceiling. To one side is a fully equipped kitchen with dining area for 6, and to the other side a comfortable living area with various sofas and chairs centred around a corner fireplace. French windows lead out onto the main terrace overlooking the sea. There are two bedrooms – one with double bed and one with twin beds. These bedrooms both have access to the terrace. There is one large bathroom with shower and WC. The property has air-conditioning throughout and WIFI internet access.

The outside areas of the property are particularly pretty. The long terrace that runs the length of the property is a wonderful spot to enjoy al-fresco dining with the use of an in-built barbecue to one side. The stone pagoda clad in bougainvillea and vines with built in sofas offers a shady retreat from which to sit back and enjoy the panoramic view of the bay below. The gardens are colourful and planted with various Mediterranean flowers and herbs with a lawn running the length of the property and a good sized swimming pool. There is a new children's play area with swings, slide and see-saw.

Salandi Bay is idyllic with still relatively few houses on the bay - Villa Ostria itself only has two neighbouring houses. The local beaches are some of the quietest in the area even in the height of the season. The nearest beach to Villa Ostria is an idyllic cove fringed by pine trees situated a few mins drive/approx 10 mins walk from the villa. At the sea, there is also an excellent taverna generally open daily during the main part of the season and at weekends at other times. The traditional village of Didima with shops and tavernas set in the hills above Salandi is about 10 mins drive away and there are various pretty fishing villages within a 15 -20 min drive.

For those times when you may want to experience something more than traditional tavernas and shops, within easy driving distance there is the refined marina town of Porto Heli i(about 25 mins by car) with its sophisticated selection of restaurants, cafes and shops. The area of Porto Heli is one of Greece’s little secrets. It is an exquisitely beautiful part of the Peloponnese with many private islands owned by Greece’s elite and as such the local towns with their 18th and 19th Century mansions and their marinas lined with yachts offer a more exclusive selection of places to dine or shop.

The archaeological sites of Mycenae, Epidavros, Corinth, Nemea and the Frachtis Cave as well as the Venetian town of Nafplion are within easy driving distance. The unspoilt islands of Hydra and Spetses are also easily accessible in a day trip.

Salandi Bay is a quiet and traditional area and is ideal for those wanting to have a low-key, relaxing holiday with tremendous views and in peaceful surroundings, and with some culture and history thrown in.

Our experience of PGV was first class - very responsive and professional. It gave a feeling that you were always there if needed. Will recommend you to friends and colleagues.

Feedback for Villa Ostria.

'Stunning location - so very quiet and peaceful.

The outdoors area is lovely. Green and beautifully kept with lots of different seating areas and plenty of natural shade. There is a perfect BBQ area for Alfresco dining. Views are to die for - recommend you take binoculars. The infinity pool is not the largest but is very nicely done and has a proper deep end, which we like. As others have said before, the Villa would benefit from an outdoor shower. Many would then use that as an alternative to rotating through the single bathroom.

Inside the villa is well presented and met our needs. Air con worked well when needed and decent Wi Fi kept the teens happy. Our only slight niggle was the bathroom which would benefit from updating with a separate shower cubicle in place of the Jacuzzi style bath with shower attachment. That would work better for a family of four.

The owner, Kostas, is a nice guy and his stocking of the fridge for your arrival provides a huge amount of quality fresh produce. You will not need to shop on the way there! Pleasing also to have the villa freshened up and laundry changed mid-week.

There are a number of small coves very close to the villa. If you don't want the walk back up the hill then it is easy to drive down and park safely off road. At the end of May we had these coves completely to ourselves. Great swimming and snorkelling. As anywhere in Greece bring swimming shoes because there are some sea urchins (which tell you the sea is clean!) but you quickly adapt to watch where you place your feet - this is not at all a problem, just a helpful tip. The beaches are smooth white pebble which we grew to prefer over sand.

The local taverna was welcoming. Small menu but none the worse for it as everything tasted nice and fresh. Well worth frequenting. Of larger places nearby we preferred Ermioni to Porto Cheli - plenty of restaurant/bakery choices and just a nicer place to spend the evening.

For those preferring a euro branded supermarket there is a Lidl on the road in to Kranidi

In summary a really pleasant stay. Great place for recharging the batteries and a quiet base from which to explore the area.

We had a fantastic stay and would definitely use Pretty Greek Villas again. Communication from start to finish has been excellent. A beautiful unspoilt area, we take with us such amazing memories.

Many thanks for the email.  We absolutely loved the holiday, the villa was perfect for us and we loved the quietness of the location.  All round another fabulous family holiday - thankyou.
The fully stocked fridge with, literally every food and drink needed for the week was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated!
Once again, i can happily say, we will be highly recommending you as a caring and well groomed travel company with, based on our experience, villas managed to a high standard and a true reflection the promotional material.
Best Wishes

we really enjoyed our stay in Greece - it was a marvellous villa and great place to be. We are thinking about booking again next year. Nothing to complain or to change - everything was perfect! Especially the filled fridge waiting for us at our arrival was such a nice surprise. Kostas, the landlord was very hospital, helpful and friendly. We would like to thank him of the great time at his place.
Thanks a lot and best regards,
Anne Tholen

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Ostria. A perfect spot and very nice house, the only quibble would be perhaps some operating instructions for the cooker and bath which we had to puzzle out.
Avance were very helpful also.
Thanks Again

Just a quick email to check what the check out procedure was tomorrow at the Villa. We were planning to depart by around 10am and just leave the keys by the BBQ - if there is a proper method in place then do let me know.
We've had a wonderful week and loved the villa.
Many thanks

As far as our holiday is concerned I would say that we had a lovely time! In terms of the villa itself the vista was exceptional and certainly externally it was of a very good standard.
Many thanks

We had a fabulous time and will be coming back.  We also visited Hydra and think we will book there next year. Can you let me know what villas you have there with pool (Matia Mou looks nice) for 4 people for 2 weeks from 6 to 20 August 2017 along with prices?
Thanks again.

David Humphreys arrived 11/09/2016
Yes we had a great time.
Kostas the owner met as arranged and we were very impressed and relieved to see the fridge fully stocked, now that's what I call a welcome pack!
WOW what a location !!!
The outside space is stunning and the pool is beautiful and the peace and tranquility make all of the above pale into insignificance.......................
Thanks and regards

We had a lovely stay in the Villa, it was very relaxing just what we all needed.
Many thanks Alison

We had a great stay at Villa Ostria. Kostas met us as planned and the fully stocked fridge/welcome pack was exceptional.

The villa is beautiful and no pictures can fully give the view its justice. To get that view, the road up to the villa is pretty steep, so you are more likely to drive to the Beach/Taverna rather than walk during the day.

The outside area is really well planned with several places to sit and relax in (or out of) the sun and take in the surroundings as the day moves along.

The kitchen and barbecue area are well stocked with all the cooking utensils you might need.

Salandi Bay is quiet and the local Taverna has a simple but very fresh/tasty menu.

For those wanting to get away from it all this villa is a must (and the Wifi was >4Mbps which is better than home for us!).

Thank you,
Simon & Debra
