Polyhymnia was the muse of divine hymns and it seems fitting for this beautiful and artistic villa to be named after her. This is an elegant Hydriot house with a peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of Hydra town and close to the pretty little village of Kamini.
Through the walled entrance, you enter a peaceful courtyard with a raised area with trees giving shade. Here there is a lovely outdoor dining area seating 8 guests.
Upon entering the house, there is a large living room that is very beautifully furnished with art work on the walls, fireplace, antique furnishings as well as comfortable modern sofas. The white walls contrast perfectly with the grey painted woodwork and shutters. There is a separate country style kitchen with table and chairs that is well equipped and with a great painting of a chef on the wall!
Upstairs are two double/twin bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom is accessed via its own separate entrance on the ground floor level. This bedroom is a large room also with double/twin beds and its own en-suite bathroom. As with the rest of the house, the bedrooms are furnished and decorated beautifully throughout.
From the living room, doors lead out to a big patio in front with a second outdoor dining area with wonderful views over the pretty village of Kamini and the sea. There is also a lovely outdoor seating area built in to the surrounding stone fitted with large comfortable cushions.
Like many houses on Hydra, the property has thick stone walls and stone-flagged floors with openings on all sides so it remains cool throughout the summer without the need for air-conditioning. There are fans in all rooms and the property also has WIFI, TV, dishwasher and washing machine.
The property is located close to the village of Kamini which is one of the quieter areas of the island and very pretty with its little harbour, excellent tavernas and beautiful pine-fringed coves for swimming. There is also a supermarket within a short walk as well as Baby Beach which is an organised beach with a more upmarket beach bar-restaurant. The village of Kamini is only about a 15 min walk from the main harbour and town of Hydra and it’s a pleasant walk either through the little streets or along the battlements that run along the coast. Guests can also take a water taxi from Kamini Harbour to Hydra town and it’s also possible to hire boats on Hydra.
This property would suit art lovers and those who would like to experience the more authentic side of Greek summer living.
