Quintessentially Greek. This cottage is in a superb location above Agios Jerusalem beach with an eagle’s eye view over the slowly unfurling contours of the coastline, and with incredible sunset views.
Nestled into the surrounding nature are two buildings - a main house and a separate guest cottage across the terrace.
The main house has a beautiful open-plan space consisting of a very comfortable living room, dining area and well equipped kitchen. To the far end of the cottage is the master bedroom with super king-size bed and separate bathroom with bath and shower.
Blush-pink shutters, cypress wood ceilings and stone-flagged floors give a great sense of light, simplicity and peace with wonderful views over a traditional Grecian landscape with the Ionian Sea below. Throughout the house there are many artistic touches, lovely paintings and a very unique collection of tables positioned perfectly for guests to enjoy every aspect of the views.
Large wooden doors lead to the outdoor dining area shaded by a traditional vine-clad pergola.
From the courtyard, you access the guest cottage where the 2nd bedroom is located. As you enter the cottage, there is a bathroom with shower and small kitchenette. A wooden staircase leads up to a delightful bedroom under the eaves with two single beds (adults of average height can stand fully). An additional guest can be accommodated on the double sofa bed located on the ground floor level beyond the kitchenette (a few stone steps lead down to this area).
The entire property is surrounded by an abundance of nature - huge pines, magnificent cactus, tumbling vines and age-old olive trees interjected by plumes of colourful flowers and herbs. The swimming pool terrace is in a perfect position to enjoy this Grecian scene with mile upon mile of coastline bathed in that marvellous violet light so quintessentially Greek. As the sun sinks into the sea before your eyes, the blush-pink colours on the water are resplendent.
The Cottage is located on a gentle hillside just above the beach of Agios Jerusalem with its pristine water and pebbly beach excellent for snorkelling. The renowned taverna of Odysseas located just above the beach is one of the best on the island. It’s a couple of minutes down by car, or for guests who are reasonably fit, a walk of about 15 minutes along a country lane. Some of the loveliest beaches of the island are close by such as Alaties with its excellent taverna, Dafnoudi, Emblessi to name a few. The large fishing village of Fiskardo with its beautiful horse-shoe shaped harbour lined with excellent restaurants, cafes, bars and shops is approx 15 mins drive away. In between Agios Jerusalem and Fiskardo are many pretty villages with a few tavernas, cafes and shops that are well worth visiting such as the villages of Antipata and Magganos.
This is a gem of a property imbued with the spirit of Greece. The tranquillity, atmosphere and sheer beauty of the place will remain with you for months after your holiday ends.
