The Old Farmhouse of Bourisis is situated in an idyllic position nestled in a verdant valley above the harbour of Fiskardo on the northern coast of Kefalonia. This large farmhouse was once an imposing home within the village and many of its original features have been beautifully restored including the walled garden, old wine press and bread oven.
The main front entrance is on the upper level of the house where there is a very spacious and airy living room with comfortable furnishings. There are three bedrooms on this level: A double bedroom with en-suite bathroom; a twin bedroom with doors leading to the garden; and a double bedroom with king-size bed featuring exposed wooden beams and a balcony overlooking the garden. These two bedrooms share a large family bathroom. Stairs lead up to the attic 'sofita' level where there is a twin bedroom set under the eaves which is suitable for children due to the low height ceiling. From the front door, there is a covered veranda with walled seating and a view across the valley to the old church.
A staircase leads to the ground floor level where there is a well-equipped country kitchen, which includes a Nespresso machine, a separate dining room, a guest WC and utility room. Outside the kitchen is a new outside gas barbecue area with kitchen-style worktop.
The property has air-conditioning in all three bedrooms, the sofita (attic) bedroom, and the dining area on the ground floor. The house has WIFI, DVD and TV.
The farmhouse sits perfectly within its rural surroundings and has a surprising amount of outside space so that children can play happily and adults can find a peaceful area of the garden to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the setting. From the kitchen, a sweet little door leads to an outdoor dining area, situated under a pergola providing shade from the daytime sun, and pretty walled garden planted with fruit trees. Hidden away in the corner of the garden is the old wine press which the owners have converted into a large cushioned day bed. Wide stone steps, with a railing, lead up to the pool area where there is a small private pool (7.5m x 3m) with plenty of sun loungers and an elevated view across the garden to the church.
The property is situated in the hamlet of Psilithrias which sits above the harbour of Fiskardo. A short walk through the countryside brings you to the traditional village of Antipata with its cafe, taverna and village shop. Fiskardo with its array of restaurants, cafes and shops along the harbour front can also be reached on foot within about 20 mins via a beautiful path through the countryside.
All guests can enjoy the surrounding nature which is rich in trees, wild flowers and aromatic herbs, and for the more adventurous in spirit, walkers and hikers can access the ancient mule paths of 'Erisos' that criss-cross this valley including a stunning hike through pristine nature to Kimilia beach within about 30 mins.
Some of the most idyllic beaches of the island are close by including Emblissi beach, Alaties with its lovely taverna and Aghios Jerousalim with the excellent Odysseas taverna.

We had a wonderful week at The Farmhouse Bourisis. The standard of the accommodation was very high and exactly as depicted and described on your web site.I can honestly say that it was one of the best equipped holiday homes we have ever rented, even sharp knives in the kitchen! The beds were very comfortable. The gardens were lovely, full of birds and the location was very peaceful. We loved being only 10 mins from the hustle and bustle of Fiskado and then being able to return to our little bit of paradise. We especially liked the unexpected treats left for our arrival and the pre stocked wine rack with honesty box was a great idea. We would definitely book with PGV again

We had the most wonderful time at Bourisis. Lovely house, very well and nicely decorated and equipped. Location excellent with many facilities and beaches in easy proximity. Very peaceful and quiet yet easily accesible. All in all a great success. We have just returned from our first, but hopefully not last, visit to Farmhouse Bourisis. What a truly stunning property in a fabulous location. The owners have done an amazing job restoring the farmhouse, retaining many original features whilst adding some beautiful modern design touches. Having stayed in a number of villas in Kefalonia, Bourisis stands out as the best by far! We were a party of 8 people and it accommodated us comfortably. Everything about the place is fab; beautiful pool area, with lovely seating and umbrellas and many shady nooks to sit and read out of the sun - we particularly enjoyed the day bed for star gazing and saw many shooting stars! If you’re looking for a beautiful property in a quiet spot but within a short distance of the gorgeous Fiskardo then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Farmhouse Bourisis. Yamas!

Just 10 minutes drive from the chic bustle of Fiscardo, Bourisis is a haven of tranquility. Beyond the walls you have the rustic charm of an ancient Greek hamlet – all gnarly olive trees and stone ruins. Inside it’s clean, tasteful British design - no gloomy dark wood here. If you’re lucky you’ll see (and hear) the goatherd with his 350-strong flock chiming their way down the valley. Completely recommended. Downing family. September 2019

We had a fantastic family holiday in The Old Farmhouse of Bourisis. The restoration of the building has been completed to a really high standard and offers spacious family accommodation with nice discreet seating areas to enjoy some quiet downtime as well as plenty of seating and shade poolside. The furnishings are stylish, robust and comfortable. The modern conveniences such as the air conditioning, washing machine, kitchen equipment and electrical appliances were much appreciated as we like to cook and had an 8 month old grandson with us. Local tavernas, supermarkets , bakeries and beaches are within a 20-40 minute walk, which is doable even with a baby buggy. Foki, Daphnudi and Emlisi beaches are particularly good. After a hard day on the beach relaxing and swimming in the crystal clear warm water, a taxi back to the farmhouse from Fiscardo is reasonable at 8 euros. Highlights of our holiday were kayaking, hiring a small motorboat to check out the small coves and a boat trip to Ithica for the day with swim stops and lunch.

Farmhouse Bourisis was a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful house in a peaceful location. Worked perfectly for us. The benefit of staying in a tastefully modernised old property is that with its thick Limestone walls it stays so much cooler than a modern villa. We enjoyed exploring the local beaches/coves (all quite small but very pretty); particularly Dafnoudi, Alaties and Jerusalem. Fiskardo was lovely in the evenings with all the yachts moored right up against the harbour walls, no cars allowed and lots of restaurant choices. Closer to the villa we liked The Stone House (El Petrino) restaurant in Antipata - nice to have that quieter option. Car hire was perfect thanks. Kokolis were there to meet us, were very friendly and made sure we knew where we were going. Car was of good quality. So again a great holiday. Thank you PGV. We shall book again!

Thanks, we loved it. Kefalonia is beautiful and Bourisis lived up to expectations and was very relaxing too. I m already looking if we can go back to Kefalonia this summer! The villa was very well equipped and easy to be in. Loved the pool, loved the different areas of the garden. It was a bit remote (which we knew), but still easy to get places and we did walk to the little village and into Fiscardo a couple of times, and had a car. It was easy and thank you for booking the car and the boat hire. The boat I think was our best day.
