Luxurious beach-fronted villa with guest house on undiscovered car-free island with pretty harbour town

View Gallery

The island of Trizonia where time stands still. Absence of cars, pretty harbour-front with tavernas and cafes set under the shade of age-old mulberry trees and relatively easy to get to. Imagine a beautiful island house set right on the water-front, stylish and sophisticated where every detail has been thought out with care, great taste and with an artistic flare.

From the beach, stone steps lead up to the property which consists of a three bedroom main house with an adjoining one bedroom guest house.

In the main house, there is an open plan living room with beautiful furnishings set around an open fire-place and with double height ceiling, and large TV. The dining area features a unique hand-crafted table in chestnut wood with atmospheric lighting that is modern and stylish. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped even for the most serious of cooks in the party. The pleasing combination of traditional touches with contemporary design is evident in the old marble kitchen sink, the stylish grey cupboards and artistic lighting. Two sets of French windows afford panoramic views over the bay and the pretty town with its Neo-Classical architecture.

A spacious and airy hall-way with its stone-flagged floor leads past the Guest WC to the first master bedroom. The lightness of the decor is extenuated by the use of natural hessian and straw. Even the wooden fan above the bed is a piece of art in itself. The en-suite bathroom is stylishly decorated in stone and oak with walk-in modern shower and naturally lit from its elevated glass sun-roof. French windows lead to a side patio with views over the sea.

Continuing up 7 steps and past an antique door is the 2nd bedroom with double/twin beds. A very comfortable room featuring an original wooden floor that has been beautifully restored. The en-suite bathroom with modern shower is also decorated in stone and wood. This bedroom also has French windows leading to a patio with sea views.

Across the hallway is the 3rd bedroom with double/twin beds also with beautiful wooden floors and en-suite bathroom with shower similarly decorated in wood and stone. From the French windows guests can access a quiet and private patio set amongst the herbs and flowers of the garden.

All three bedrooms are very well designed with spacious built-in closets and hairdryer in each room. More than a touch of luxury is evident in the monogrammed bath and beach towels, bathrobes, and the crisp, cool linens that have been specially made for this property. All rooms including the bedrooms have WIFI and USB/internet.

From the main house, steps lead down to a beautiful Guest House with 2nd master double bedroom and ensuite bathroom with its own independent access from the garden.

Directly in front of the villa is a truly magical outdoor dining and living terrace with hand-crafted wooden dining table for 10 shaded by an artistically designed pergola of natural hessian. Set just above the sea, this is a beautiful space to enjoy the entire sparkling panorama of all that is best of Greek island life - the old town, the pretty church shaded by pines, and the entire panorama of the bay. In the evenings, soft-lighting illuminates the terraces and outside areas of the villa.

From the terrace, steps lead down to the gravel garden where sun loungers and comfortable outdoor beds shaded by umbrellas are just steps away from the beach.

To the side of the kitchen and close to the main terrace is a barbecue area with gas barbecue, outdoor sink an outdoor shower and sensational view.

The property features silent air-conditioning units throughout. All windows have extra noise-proof glass to ensure a good nights sleep as well as inside shutters and high quality fly screens. Facilities include Nespresso machine, dishwasher and washing machine, and unusually for an island, the water is pure spring water from the mountains of mainland Greece opposite. Twice weekly cleaning is included in the price of the villa. It is also suitable for winter lets since the villa has proper heating system, log-fire and a high standard of luxury as well as being accessible at all times of the year.

The sea outside the property is crystal-clear and just steps away. There are many coves and beaches that can be discovered by foot. There is also a boat with skipper for hire so that guests can enjoy exploring the island.

In the evenings, it is a delightful experience to stroll along the harbour-front with its cafes and tavernas set out amongst the shade of the mulberry trees. Walking through the Square, you come to a second harbour which is a secret anchorage for yachts on their way from the Ionian Sea through to the Saronic Gulf. There is always a good atmosphere reminiscent of old Greece with octopus set out to dry, fresh-caught fish from the caique boats and cool, refreshing jugs of local wine.

The island of Trizonia lies just off the Mainland of Greece close to the historical town of Nafpaktos.  5 mins across the bay by public boat are the local shops. The beautiful neo-classical town of Galaxidi is about 30 mins drive with its excellent fish tavernas and unspoilt setting. The ancient site of Delphi is approx 60 mins drive, and the mountain town of Arachova approx 1 hr 10 mins away.

Accessing Trizonia is relatively easy since it is within reach of three main airport. Preveza Airport on the mainland opposite the island of Lefkada is only 2 hrs 15 mins drive. Athens Airport is 2 hrs 40 mins drive and Kalamata Airport is approx 3 hrs drive. Trizonia could easily be combined for a two-centre holiday with the islands of Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. For those not hiring a car, we can arrange a taxi or minibus. Once you reach the mainland opposite the island of Trizonia, small boats take you across to the island in about 5 mins. The small public boats run during the day until the evening and cost Euro 1 per person. Otherwise you can get the water taxi at any time of the day or evening for Euro 10 for everyone.

This is an unusual destination that many of our guests will enjoy combining the relaxation of an island holiday in authentic surroundings, and with plenty of places to explore nearby.

The wedding of Eleni and Christopher, and our time in Trizonia, was absolutely beautiful.?  We are grateful for all of your help

Thanks for a very enjoyable week at Villa Niyia.  We have nothing but good things to say about our stay.  The villa, the village and the island are totally
charming.  Thanks to Soula and John for their hospitality during our stay, the spirit and olive oil were both most welcome.

Panagiotis P. arrived 13th August 2022

It was an excellent stay, we liked it a lot, both Soula & Katerina, together with their Husbands, were extremely kind, with a very high sense of hospitality. The Villa itself was also SUPER FINE, very Modern, well equiped and I really wish to COMMENT (publish) this in Public.

We had a perfect two weeks.  The ideal house on the ideal island.  Katerina and her parents helped us with any queries and the whole family was so hospitable.  We fell in love with Trizonia and with her family!  Paradise is what we called it.  Thank you so much for recommending it to us.

Nigel and Family arrived 17th July 2022

We had a truly wonderful stay at Villa Nayia on the hidden treasure that is the island of Trizonia in the Gulf of Corinth. Villa Nayia has only recently been built and lovingly designed by its owners, Giorgos and Katerina and they and their family - especially Soula and John - were so welcoming and hospitable.

This is an exceptional property displaying a real eye for detail with its interior design and high quality fittings and furnishings. There is ample space for up to 8 people to be comfortably accommodated here including the garden studio apartment but our family of four adults stayed in the main villa and loved it. In the main villa there are three large bedrooms with en suite bathroom facilities and a spacious lounge and kitchen/dining area as well as a further dining area outside on the first level terrace. There are three private sunbed areas, all stylishly designed and looking straightout onto the glistening sea. Taking a few short steps from the terrace and out through the villa gate, you're on the beach and in the beautiful crystal clear and incredibly clean sea - fantastic! You also have immediate access to a range of wonderful tavernas and bars, just a short stroll along the harbour, where the food and drink is excellent and the welcome is always wonderful and friendly. We recommend the friendly Island Beach & Resto Bar during the day and both the Ostria and Porto Trivonia tavernas in the evening. We were never disappointed!

Katerina, Giorgos, Soula and John arranged welcome gifts and other gifts during our stay, including tomatoes and cucumber from their own garden, ahome made spinach pie (!) and wine. They were always on hand to assist us with anything but never intrusive. We also went on walks and had chats with Soula and she arranged a wonderful boat trip with Alex and Yianna who gave us a tour of all three islands while we sat out on the deck in glorious sunshine.

Trizonia doesn't seem to be that well known in Greece and it somehow manages to retain a special charm of Greece of yesteryear, is not overpopulated with tourists and receives passing visits from yachts and motor cruisers docking in the marina. It's only a two and a half hour drive from Athens and makes a really refreshing change to heading to the popular Greek tourist traps. Leaving the hire car in the car park at Chania on themainland when we arrived, it was fabulous to then get the boat taxi for the short 5 minute ride across to the island where there are no cars. And you can pop back on the boat taxi whenever you want to go to the nearby mini market for supplies. There are plenty of places to explore on the nearby mainland but we were so enchanted by Trizonia, we wanted to hang out there and relished having everything within easy walking distance or a short boat ride.

It's a truly magical place and we thoroughly recommend you to experience Villa Nayia on Trizonia for yourselves.

Thank you to Katerina, Giorgos, Soula and John for being such amazing hosts.

Nicola and family arrived 10th July 2022
The villa was lovely, fantastic location and really well equipped. Trizonia was better than I thought it would be - a great combination of being really peaceful but still near bars and restaurants. It worked for all of us - the 12 month old baby, the teenager and the adults all thought it was great.

Dear PGV

Where to begin. We had the most amazing time staying at the Villa Nayia. Soula and Yannis and their family are incredibly warm and welcoming hosts. From the moment we arrived we felt instantly relaxed. The Villa is newly built and beautifully done. It had all of the necessary modern conveniences that you would expect but with lots of added extras…like a bottle of Olive oil, home grown cherry tomatoes, a bottle of Raki and a huge slab of feta. What more do you need.

We went on walks with Soula and her grandchildren, and found some quiet beaches on the island. We also walked with Yannis and discovered interesting facts about early island life.

Soula arranged for a friend Poulheria to take us out on her boat and we spent a glorious day snorkelling and cruising around the island.

We were also invited along with Soula and Yannis to attend a Greek wedding at the taverna next door. Which was a wonderful experience and the hospitality of the Greek people is something that always astounds us!?? It was always lovely and they were careful not to intrude.

All in all, quite the most wonderful holiday in a beautiful villa with breathtaking views from the many terraces. We will definitely return.
Many many thanks & kind regards

Emma, Richy, Jack and Ruby
