Above the horse shoe shaped harbour of Panormos on the North East point of Tinos sits Villa Cerulean. Inky waters lap at the dried out slopes and beckon the early riser to take a dip. Flecks of colour from the minerals lying deep within this barren landscape enhance the beauty of this raw and natural setting.
Villa Cerulean is walking distance from Panormos Harbour with its white cubist buildings with freshly painted shutters lined with cafes, bars and tavernas selling fish and local fair. Time passes slowly like the brightly coloured caique boats that gently bob at the quay and old men clatter their komboloi, with an ouzo to soften the bite of their political rant. This is real Greece unspoiled by the effects of mass tourism and a perfect place for those seeking tranquility and rest.
The house sits alone surrounded by mountains of scrub and hosts 6 guests comfortably in three double bedrooms.
Marble verandas embrace the house and the entrance to the property is protected by local stone arches which give ample shade. Beside the door is a rocking chair overlooking the bay below and surrounding beauty of this barren setting.
Welcomed by a large open plan living area with polished marble floor and pistachio coloured paintwork with contrasting violet doors the home feels elegant and well cared for.
The furnishings are a mixture of contemporary and antique. Elegant chairs blend with built in sofas and paintings of the owner hang to the walls. The overall effect is pleasant and the quality is immediately apparent.
An archway separates the dining room from the living room area and features a dining table with seating for 8.
The kitchen is very well equipped with ‘Smeg' appliances, marble work top and mushroom painted cupboards. A second dinning table fits perfectly into the kitchen and provides functional solution for easily serving those delicious culinary delights
Upstairs there are three bedrooms all with double beds and ensuite bathroom facilities. They are colourful and bright. Two of them have direct access onto an upper veranda which takes in the view over the bay and Aegean Sea.
Outside there is a large swimming pool 10 x 5 meters. Built in steps make for easy access. White walls that surround the property have built in seating with grey cushions and there is a fabulous dining area honed out of the local stone and shaped by a suspended tent.
Teak sun loungers, two built in sun beds with comfortable toppers and a hammock hung within the branches of a large Mulberry tree finish the detail on this marvellous house.
Perfect for families or groups of friends wanting to discover one of the more peaceful islands in the Aegean. Walking distance to tavernas shops and bars gives easy access by foot to the traditional delights of this charming place.
