Located in an enviable position above the bay of Vourkari, this stylish property is ideal for those searching for something unspoilt and exceptional. Surrounded by indigenous plants, shrubs and trees, life stands still in this sublime setting; yachts come and go in the bay below and the chirrup of the cicadas is the only sound likely to interrupt the tranquillity.
The villa is surrounded by stone walls which are a common feature of the island’s architecture. The contemporary styling blends well with the natural materials used. There is a large parking area at the rear of the property so the entrance is conveniently situated close by. A large, open plan living space is welcoming with windows and french doors looking onto the pool and breakfast terrace. The traditional tsimentogonia floor is a lovely shade of truffle and blends well with the neutral colours of the decoration.
The kitchen is full equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven and all modern conveniences. Conveniently located next to the kitchen is a dining area for 6. French doors lead onto a shaded breakfast terrace which benefits from the view over the bay. To the left is the living room area with built in divan and comfortable sofa with TV set around the fireplace. The divan provides a perfect spot for a nap in the middle of the day as the views through the large window over the bay are stunning . A second set of French doors leads from the living room to the outside space and pool.
A sweeping staircase leads up to a large bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room. This bedroom has private access to a veranda which is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee in the morning.
From the living room, the staircase leads to a spacious lower level lobby which features various antique pieces that complement the contemporary decor very well. There are three bedrooms on this level as well as a maid’s room. The children’s bedroom has two divan (built in) beds. French doors lead to the lower garden level outside. The second bedroom is accessed through large double doors and provides very comfortable and stylish accommodation either as one double bed or two single beds. French doors also lead from this second bedroom to the garden outside which benefits from views over the bay. Both of these two bedrooms share a family bathroom. The Master bedroom suite is accessed through the doors on the left of the entrance reception area and comprises three spaces. The first is a large dressing area with built in wardrobes and a separate dresser. To the left an en-suite bathroom and to the right is the bedroom area with king-size bed. At the far end of the room are french doors leading onto the lower garden level.
The property has been built on a hill so the outside space is on two terraced levels. The pool level offers an incredibly comfortable, perfect summer living space. At the rear is a large stone structure which is beautiful and blends perfectly into the landscape. It provides shade to the outside living and dining areas beneath. In front is an open space which is perfect for sun bathing with stylish teak sun loungers topped by comfortable cushions. Two steps further and ‘splash’! you're in the pool. It is a good size swimming pool with glass that separates it from the view and the garden below. This feature is very pleasing since the view can be taken in without interruption whilst cooling off in the pool. An outside kitchen and BBQ area add the final touches of convenience to this beautiful island style paradise.
The property is very well located. The bay of Vourkari is a short walk below the house and the sandy beach is a lovely place to take your morning dip. The tavernas, bar, cafe and boutique shops of Voukari are no more than a few minutes walk away from the beach. Please note that it is uphill on the way back.
Kea is a tranquil island of great natural beauty with an interesting old town (Ioulis) perched on a hill with tiny winding streets of colourfully painted houses, a bustling port below and many wonderful sandy beaches. It has escaped the influence of mass tourism and retains a uniquely Greek character. It is also easy to reach from Athens – regular ferries depart from Lavrion port and take just 1 hour to reach the island.
Vourkari View would appeal to a family or group of friends wanting to experience Greek summer life on one of Greece’s more unspoilt islands but without the need to travel hours on a ferry.
