Hebe

Tranquil Villa Hebe set in her serene and secluded position shaded by mulberry trees and with sublime views over the sea. This lovely stone property situated just above a traditional village has been sensitively restored by its owner and offers a rare combination of tradition with elegant luxury.

On the ground floor is an open-plan space with living area set around an open fireplace. Age-old beams combine with sumptuous fabrics and furnishings to create a truly comfortable haven for guests. The stylish kitchen is very well-equipped for even the most serious of cooks in the party with an elegant indoor dining area. From the windows, there are lovely views over the sea, and from the kitchen a handy doorway leads to the outdoor dining and barbecue area.

From the main living space, doors lead to the hallway with its metre-thick stone walls. A laundry room and guest WC are situated off the hallway. Hand-crafted wooden stairs lead to the upper level. There is a comfortable office space on the landing, a quiet spot to read a book or catch up on a few emails.

On the upper level the spacious master suite with king size bed is stylishly decorated with a fabulous en-suite bathroom featuring rich mulberry-coloured tiles, separate modern walk-in shower and luxurious bath-tub. For that extra romantic touch, the bedroom has a charming balcony with panoramic views over the surrounding citrus groves and sea.

A lovely soft pink lime-washed guest house nestles in the garden a few steps from the main house and accessible also internally from the main hallway as well. As with the rest of the property, the interior has been stylishly renovated and decorated. It features two bedrooms and its own bathroom.

The queen bedroom features a traditional style platform bed with queen-size mattress. This light and airy room has pretty water views and vaulted wooden ceiling. Adjacent is the guest house bathroom hewn out of the traditional stone walls with modern shower unit. The impressive vaulted ceiling room is next with two platform beds beautifully sculpted each with standard double mattress. 

The outside space has been well-designed with a great barbecue and outdoor dining area set out amongst the vines and cooled by the gentle sea breeze. Under the shade of the mulberry trees and overlooking the sea is a very comfortable outdoor living area. Guests can also enjoy full sunshine from the infinity swimming pool (9m x 3m) and its relaxation area.

The property features WIFI and Smart TV. Air-conditioning is in all rooms except the living room. Twice weekly cleaning and changing of linens/towels is included in the price. Extra cleaning, cooking and massage/beauty services can be organised at an extra cost. For winter rentals, the property is ideal with heating system, log-fire, comfortable furnishings, the ski centre of Kalavryta up the road and all-round easy access.

Although Villa Hebe is secluded and private, it is only a short walk from the villa gates past the old Byzantine church into the heart of village life. The first of the tavernas is very pretty with great views over the sea, excellent grilled dishes, and offering wines from the award-winning local winery of Tetramythos. The large village square where many of the locals meet has plenty of space for children to play and has a great cafe/restaurant, and a third taverna also with good home-cooking and simple grilled food is situated at the far end of the village. 

A short drive brings you to the local beaches some of which are with the Blue Flag denoting the cleanest beaches of Europe. Corral Beach and Sta Vento at Pounda Beach could rival any island beach in Greece with clear water, excellent beach bar/restaurant with service, comfortable loungers and umbrellas and in a great setting. 

Shops and supermarkets are within a 10 min drive either in the towns of Diakopto or Akrata. This is an area famous for its fresh produce, organic meat and fish - in the little harbour of Diakopto, you can buy fresh fish straight from the caique boats daily. 

For guests who like to explore, there are some major sites of archaelogical and historical interest such as Mycenae, Delphi, Nafplion, Epidavros and Ancient Corinth. Lesser known sites locally of the Achaean League (one of the ancient super-powers) are there to discover as well as Byzantine churches and monasteries some of which cling to the sides of the mountains. There are plenty of mountain villages with lakes and rivers to explore and a completely different mountain cuisine to sample. 

This area of the Peloponnese is very easy to reach - approx 1 hr 50 mins drive from Athens Airport and there is also a new train service running straight from the airport to the local station of Platanos twice daily which is situated a 7 min drive from the villa. Trains also link up with the central station in Athens and to the port of Pireaus. Car hire though is recommended for ease of getting about.

Villa Hebe is an ideal property for guests to enjoy the traditional side of Greece without foregoing modern comforts. This oasis of health, well-being and enjoyment is there for guests to discover!
