Artistic property short distance to village, tavernas and beaches with panoramic sea views, fenced pool and at a great price

View Gallery

Villa Dodona is a large property set on a hillside surrounded by olive groves with a dramatic backdrop of the surrounding mountains and with sweeping views over the sea. The property comprises a four bedroom villa with a spacious guest house sleeping 2 more guests on the lowest level.

The property is on three levels. The ground floor level has a very spacious L-shaped open plan living room with large dining area. Comfortable sofas and armchairs are positioned around an open fire-place. There are artistic touches throughout with some beautifully chosen objets d’art that blend perfectly with the homely atmosphere. Two large doors lead from this open plan space to a large, airy veranda with spacious outdoor dining area for 10 that has views right across the Gulf. A few steps down from the veranda is a very pleasant shady garden with coffee table and chairs set out under an old olive tree.

From the living room, there is a separate kitchen which is well equipped for preparing family meals. Doors lead from the kitchen out to a side garden where the barbecue is situated. On this floor, there is also a guest bedroom which can be set up as a double or two single beds and en-suite bathroom with shower and WC. This bedroom also has its own private sea-facing balcony.

On the upper level are three bedrooms: The very spacious master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with shower and WC, and a large balcony overlooking the sea. There is a third double bedroom with separate bathroom with shower and WC. This bedroom also has its own private sea-facing balcony. The fourth bedroom has two single beds and a separate bathroom with shower and WC. This bedroom has views over the surrounding mountains.

From the kitchen garden, steps lead down to the lowest level of the villa where the guest house is situated. The entrance leads into a playroom featuring a new ping-pong table-tennis table. There is a separate open plan large living room in the guest house with French Windows leading directly to a patio and to the pool terrace. At the far end of the living room is a kitchenette for preparing meals and a dining table for 4. There is a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with shower.

The property has a long 'kitchen' garden to one side of the villa where the barbecue area is situated. To the other side of the property and accessible from the main veranda is the second shady garden. A gate and steps lead down to the swimming pool terrace which is entirely fenced making it an ideal property for families with young children. The pool is very large (11m x 5m) with four steps into the shallow end making it ideal for children and older people to get in and out of the pool easily. There is an elegant teak deck with sun loungers and a large umbrella surrounded by lushly planted gardens.

Villa Dodona is very well located being only 500m to the nearest tavernas though the last 80 metres is an incline so guests may like to take their car to the village. This village is renowned for its excellent grilled meat tavernas in particular and Greeks will come from miles around to sample the tasty cuisine. There is also a very nice bar perched on the hillside with a fantastic view right over the sea.

The local Beach (Pounta), has the coveted Blue Flag denoting the cleanest beaches of Europe, is just 2-3 mins by car or around 20-25 mins by foot.

New for the 2023 season is a speedboat with skipper that guests can hire for fishing trips, snorkelling, and exploring both the local bays as well as the beautiful island of Trizonia opposite and the Neo-Classical town of Galaxidi with Ancient Delphi above. Equipment for fishing, snorkelling and waterskiing is provided as well as a 'doughnut' for kids. For information please see link below:

The local town of Diakopto has some excellent shops selling local produce including meat, fish, fruit and vegetables much of which is organically produced or fished locally.

This is an area rich in culture and history - the archaeological sites of Delphi, Corinth, Mycenae and Epidavros can be visited as day trips and there are many surrounding towns and villages of interest to visit including some very picturesque mountain villages untouched by time. Kalavryta Ski Centre is about 40 mins from the villa along a spectacular road that cuts straight through a gorge. Along the seashore, there are plenty of good beaches with some excellent beach cafes and tavernas selling freshly caught fish.

Villa Dodona would suit families or a group of friends looking for a comfortable villa to experience a more authentic side of Greek summer living with places of historical and cultural interest close by.

For groups of up to 6 guests, a 10% discount applies - please enquire.

2023, the swimming pool system was upgraded with an electrolysis cleansing mechanism (the purest way to clean swimming pool water).

Thanks so much for our lovely stay at Dodona. We all had a great time and loved the house. It was such a homely place in a lovely area. We loved Pounda beach especially, the Diakopto tavernas, and our trip with Costa on the boat.

Debby W. arrived 17th Sept 2022

We had a wonderful time at Villa Dodona, thank you so much. We loved the whole area - there was so much to see and do, within a short drive. Lots of highlights, over the course of our two week stay! The rack and pinion railway, which we rode up and down a couple of times, is great fun - and we also walked back down the track, which was a wonderful and memorable experience - the scenery is incredibly beautiful. One worth packing your trainers/hiking shoes for - just make sure you have a copy of the timetable, you don't want to be stuck in a tunnel when the train comes through! The boat trip with Alexandros was fantastic - there were 7 of us, all pretty well travelled, and we all agreed that it was one of the best excursions any of us can remember. Trizonia Island was a lovely place to wander around, and there were lots of surprises throughout the day on that particular boat trip, all of them good! Highly recommended to your future guests! We visited Ancient Corinth as well, and the Caves just south of Kalavrita, and we did a tour of the Tetramythos winery (just a 15 minute drive from the villa), which was excellent. Pounda Beach was stunning, the only disappointment being that the wonderful Sta Vento restaurant closed for the season during our visit! Amazing seafood; we wish they could have stayed open for just a few days longer.... We visited the Veranda Taverna in Trapeza village on many occasions, and found the food excellent and the welcome extremely warm. A word of recommendation too for the Agora Cafe in Diakopto, opposite the train station. A great place for coffee, breakfast, and watching the world go by..... Back at the Villa, Spiros and Sonia were lovely, and kept the place in tip top condition. It was great to be able to use my (few words of) Greek to communicate! The villa itself is spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed visiting such an authentic part of the country, with very few foreign tourists in evidence (train ride and major sites apart). Thank you to everybody at PGV for a really memorable holiday, I will definitely recommend you to friends and family, and look forward to using your services again in the future.

Peter T. arrived 12th August 2022

The feedback from our holiday is very mainly positive. We found the villa and especially the outside gardens and the pool to be excellent. We found the local beaches and tavernas to be very welcoming and good value. Our stays there were very enjoyable. The only issue that we suggest needs more consideration is the ability to find the villa. The google map and directions were not the easiest to follow, especially in the dark… perhaps you should consider advising that guests try and avoid arriving in the dark? The roads through the village are so difficult to identify. The holiday certainly reinforced our pleasure with PGV.

Cook Family arrived 31st July 2022

Cannot really do this holiday justice with words alone. Having been to six Greek Islands before, but never the mainland, we were not sure what to expect. All our dealings with Pretty Greek Villas were fantastic and the journey from Athens to Trapeza was easy enough. Spiros met us and was so lovely. He took time to show us around and explain how things worked. He and Sonia visited several times during the stay and we met him around and about a few times, great people. The villa is beyond stunning, fantastically designed, well furnished, exquisite taste. So much room, air conditioned, the most wondrous views across the Gulf from our dining room balcony. Pool was huge and cleverly designed to that the deep end had sloping sides for extra safety. The area is very authentically Greek, we literally only met one other English family over the 10 days and this is very refreshing. Diakopta had everything we needed, as well as the two local tavernas that were so welcoming. The beaches are lovely, the closest one is very large pebbles and a bit tricky to enter the water, but very cheap paddleboards to hire. The beach just before Diakopta is sand and small stone, so better, with free sunbeds. Daytrips aplenty, the Rack Railway to Kalavytra is a nice half day excursion. We also did Olympia in a day. The Peloponnese is a beautiful, unspoilt area. If you want somewhere a little of the beaten track, want to feel like a local and don't mind slumming it in the most wondrous villa then this is for you.

Villa Dodona was absolutely beautiful, the view ,the decor and the pool area were wonderful. We loved the view and having a  bathroom each was fantastic. This is the first time I have used Pretty Greek Villas and I have been very impressed with how responsive and helpful you have been. It was great having a number to contact on the Sunday when we had a problem at the villa and I appreciated your quick response. You have some gorgeous villas on your website and we would like to rent with you again. The response and flexibiity during COVID has been second to none.

Just to report back that we have had such a lovely holiday staying at the Villa Dodona. It is the most wonderful place, location and area to have a family holiday. Thank you for recommending it to me. Thank you for your efficiency and professionalism with regard to our trip.

Katherine G. arrived 9th July 2019

Katherine forwarded your e mail to me as we had all stayed at Villa Dodona together and she thought I may like to comment as well. We really liked the villa, it was very comfortable and well equipped. The owners left so many things for us it was incredibly kind of them. The village of Trapeza was small but with 2 tavernas it was very easy to eat out.The local beaches were lovely, very clean, easy parking and good beach bars for a light lunch.

Orlando C. arrived 26th May 2019

The family and I had a glorious week and the place was absolutely perfect.

We really enjoyed our week immensely and loved the region.

Sue L. arrived 16th Sept 2018

To begin with I would like to say that we were delighted with Villa Dodona and had a lovely stay. Spiros was exceptional and so helpful - even without a word of English!

Eric T. arrived 5th Aug 2018

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Villa Dodona this summer. The villas is well equipped and decorated with taste by the owners. Recommandations from the owners for good local shops, tavernas, etc... were also helpful. The location is a good base to explore North Peloponnese. Thank you and the team of PGV for everything.

Jane S. arrived 15th July 2018

We had a fabulous holiday, unfortunately over too quickly. Villa Dodona was a wonderful base from which to explore the Peloponnese and we hope to one day be able to return. We found the information guide incredibly helpful and interesting, allowing us to make plans before having even arrived and helped us make the most of our stay in the area. As you have asked for any feedback, the only very small downside was the lack of comfortable chairs to go around the pool, being a group of nine. However, this would be our only small criticism. We would definitely consider booking with you again and would love to remain in touch. Thank you to you and all your staff for your help making our holiday so enjoyable and stress-free.

PGV note: Brand new and comfortable outdoor loungers have been added for the 2019 season at Villa Dodona

Inga K. arrived 24th June 2018

Timothy H. arrived 30th July 2017

We had a fabulous stay at Villa Dodona. It really is a tremendous place, with a lovely pool, very good facilities and wonderful views. We also appreciated the fact that it is not in a touristy area. Dinos and Sissy were great hosts. It all went off very smoothly and our kids loved it too. We completely relaxed while there.

Elite & Amir H. arrived 23th July 2017

We thank you for the pleasent stay in Vila Dodona. All of us have had a very good time!

Hazel B. arrived 15th July 2017

A big thank you for recommending and arranging our stay at Dodona. We all loved the villa, very spacious and well-equipped with nice homely touches.
The pool was excellent, great size and the jacuzzi was a nice surprise! Needless to say, it was very well used and enjoyed by us all. The delightful Spiros couldn’t have been more helpful and please thank Vickie for all her help and for the excellent directions and notes on local amenities, shops and tavernas. The journeys to and from Athens went very smoothly and the villa was easy to find. We visited Pounda and Corral most days, the swimming was beautiful. Matthew, Isabella and Luca had brought their snorkelling gear and had a great time snorkelling off the beaches and the rocks near the ram’s head, saw a variety of fish including wrasse, red mullet and a large octopus. Matthew, as always when we stay somewhere with a pool, soon went in search of ‘tat’, i.e. silly inflatables, including a paddling pool which he jumped in from the side and went straight through … the ‘armchair’ and crocodile added to the fun. He’s an early riser so each day went to the village for breakfast pastries and he and Nick both cooked a lovely evening meal and lunches. Julian and I took the train which was great, very relaxing and spectacular scenery but couldn’t tempt the others away from the pool! The villa was so peaceful and secluded and in a very nice area. We found the Greeks charming and very friendly and had lovely meals in various tavernas, including Nicky's, where we had our final meal. We loved the food and discovered the bakery that also sold ice cream and delicious little cakes! In all, it was a great and memorable holiday and much enjoyed by us all. Unfortunately, the weather’s been rotten since we got back! What a contrast.

Mi-na P. arrived 21th Aug 2016

Aija K. arrived 18th June 2016

Villa was perrfect, and we had wonderfull holidays in Greece. The only shortcomming perhaps was the heat, but we have survived.

Joe B. arrived 4th June 2016

We had a brilliant time, the only regret being that we didn't explore a little more instead just relaxing in the beautiful villa. Anyway, we had a great time and please pass our thanks on to the owners who have a stunning villa and really well looked after. They were also very patient with us as it took us nearly 5 hours to get to the Villa. All in all it was a beautiful place, lovely standard and we all had a relaxing stay.

Reineke M. arrived 30th April 2016

We had a lovely time at the villa.

Janine C. arrived 16th May 2015

We've had a great time staying at the gorgeous villa and exploring the area. Many thanks for all your help in making our family holiday memorable.

Samantha A. arrived 2th Sept 2014

We had a lovely stay. The villa was spacious, the owner, Sissy and her daughter made us extremely welcome on the first day, despite it being late when we arrived and had prepared an evening meal and put some snacks and drinks in the fridge for us. The surroundings were just outstanding, beautiful views. The villa itself is beautifully done, you can see the owners have put a lot of thought and love into the design and the decorating. The people I spoke to at Pretty Greek Villas were very eager to help and pleasant. Thank you very much for this experience.

E. More arrived 3th Aug 2014

Everything was really perfect and we already look forward getting back to Greece next year. Thanks again.

Sarah F. arrived 3th July 2014

We had a wonderful stay a Villa Dodona, which is a beautiful house filled with personal touches. The view from the terrace and the swimming pool are particularly good. The surrounding area is fantastic with plenty to see and do.

Marc G. arrived 11th Aug 2013

I enjoyed a lot our stay in Greece and you have been a key element in the success of the vacation. The houses we rented were very properly selected by you. They were great for holidays. I do mention this point as, in the past, we rented houses in Italy with an agency that did not have the proper selection of the houses and it was disappointing We have enjoyed your help to organize the holidays (book the taxi to Piraeus, rental of a car, advices of places to go) and it was great to get their very valuable help.

Simon C. arrived 4th Aug 2013

We did enjoy our stay at Villa Dodona. The property was comfortable, spacious and well-appointed as well as being picturesque. It also had an excellent barbeque!

Afra T. arrived 21th July 2013

I am very happy to share our experience of your company and the villa we stayed at. From the beginning to the end we experienced a very warm and professional service from all at prettygreekvillas. Everyone seemed happy to help whether via email when in separate countries or mobile when we were actually in Greece. Travelling with two familes and 5 children ranging from 6-14 years we felt totally confident in arriving at the villa with the least hassle and this is exactly what happened. The owners met us at the meeting point and took us to the Villa. They were wonderfully friendly and made us feel right at home instantly. They had even bought us the basics and refused to be reimbursed which we couldnt believe. All mod cons were installed at the villa and the house was accessible for all ages, fantastically clean and modern without loosing the Greek feel and the pool was the childrens favourite place to be with comfortable reclining pool chairs and beautifully landscaped gardens. I would definetely book with you again and encourage anyone looking for a good Greek holiday to use you.

Mark T. arrived 7th July 2013

We had a really fabulous stay at Dodona again this year - we love the space and the pool and the local Tavernas (character and value). Thank you for arranging this for us. And we are already thinking about next year. Thank you for your continued help with our holidays - we feel very lucky to have found you and Pretty Greek Villas to help us.
